Travel itinerary template

Updated 2 November 2026. Disclosure: I built NomadSwipe, an Android trip planner.

Plan one city one day at a time. Fill in the day sheet below, then print it, save it as a PDF, or copy it as plain text into your notes app. You do not need an account.

Your day sheet

Type into the fields. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere, so reloading the page clears it.

TimePlaceNotes or addressBuffer after

Day 2

Day 3

How to fill in each day

What to put in each day

  1. Write the day first. Write the date and neighborhood at the top of each day. One day should cover one or two neighborhoods.
  2. Fill the list from a shortlist. Start from the places you actually want to see, and write each one with its notes or street, in the first empty row.
  3. Add times and opening hours. Give each place a start time. Check its opening hours the day before, because many places close on one day of the week.
  4. Leave buffer after each stop. Write the buffer under Buffer after, usually 20 to 30 minutes. Keep the last row for a place you might swap in.

Buffer time

Buffer time is the gap you leave on purpose. Plan three or four stops a day rather than eight, and leave 20 to 30 minutes after each stop for queues, walking and detours. Keep one block each day with nothing planned. These are rules of thumb for a pace you can keep, not measured figures.

Group by neighborhood

Put the places in one neighborhood on the same day. Walking between two spots in one area is usually quicker than a trip across town, and you see more of the place you are in. If a day has more than two neighborhoods, move one of them to another day.

Questions

Is this template free?

Yes. The template, the Markdown download and the copy and print buttons are free to use, and you do not need an account.

Does the page collect my data?

No. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere, and the page loads no tracking script. Reloading the page clears what you typed, so copy or print it before you close the tab.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Select Print or save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF as the destination in your browser's print dialog. The print layout shows only the day sheet.

How many days does the sheet hold?

The sheet has three days with five stops each. For a longer trip, print a second sheet, or copy the text into a notes app and add days there.

Does NomadSwipe build the itinerary for me?

No. It gives you a shortlist of real places and a map for each trip, and you plan each day yourself around that map.

Is NomadSwipe on iPhone?

Not yet. NomadSwipe is Android only today, and an iPhone version is coming soon.

Want the places before you fill in the sheet? NomadSwipe is an Android trip planner. You swipe through real places in a city, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. That map is a good place to pick the stops for this sheet. It does not build the itinerary, so you still plan each day. The NomadSwipe free plan includes 3 trips. An iPhone version is coming soon.
