Athens in 2 days, planned from 16 real places

Athens in 2 days, planned from 16 places pulled from the NomadSwipe app's Athens deck: five museums, a garden, a gallery, four places to eat, a cafe and four bars. Each day stays in one part of the centre, and every rating and review count is shown as stored.

Disclosure: I built NomadSwipe (Android), and I wrote this guide. Ratings, review counts and addresses are the values stored in the app's Athens place data, read on 3 November 2026. They may be older than that date, so treat them as a snapshot.

Before you start

Day 1: Acropolis Museum to Monastiraki Square

Day one is the compact one. By straight line between stored coordinates, the eight stops sit within 1.2 km of each other, and going stop to stop adds up to about 2.1 km. Streets and slopes make the real walk longer.

  1. Acropolis Museum: the stored card is a museum on Athanasiou Diakou. Wikipedia says it opened on 20 June 2009 on the southeastern slope of the Acropolis hill, with more than 4,250 objects across 14,000 square metres (Wikipedia). Start here.
  2. LIONDI Traditional Greek Restaurant: stored as a Greek restaurant, on Makri, about 40 m from the museum by stored coordinates. A natural lunch stop.
  3. Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments: stored as a museum, at 1 Diogenous.
  4. Taf The Art Foundation: stored as an art gallery, at 5 Normanou.
  5. Falafellas (Athens): stored as a Mediterranean place to eat, on Aiolou.
  6. Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro: stored as a bar, on Mitropoleos.
  7. 360 Cocktail Bar: stored as a bar, with an address on Monastiraki Square. Wikipedia describes Monastiraki as a flea market neighbourhood in the old town, with a metro station on the square (Wikipedia).
  8. A for Athens rooftop bar: stored as a rooftop bar, on Miaouli. End the evening here.

Day 2: museums north of Syntagma, Kolonaki and the garden

Day two spreads out more. The straight-line total is about 4.4 km, and the longest single leg, from the first stop to the second, is about 1.4 km. The two stops furthest apart are 1.9 km from each other. Hold the garden and the cafe for the afternoon, when you are heading back toward the centre.

  1. National Archaeological Museum: stored as a museum, at Eikostis Ogdois Oktovriou 44. Wikipedia places it in the Exarcheia area and says the current building was begun in 1866 and completed in 1889 (Wikipedia). Start early and give it the morning.
  2. Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology: stored as a museum, at 6 Pindarou.
  3. Frankie: stored as a restaurant, with Kolonaki in its address, on Skoufa.
  4. Byzantine and Christian Museum: stored as a museum, on Leoforos Vasilissis Sofias.
  5. National Garden: stored as a garden, entered from Leoforos Amalias. Wikipedia says it sits behind the Greek Parliament, between the Kolonaki and Pangrati districts, and covers 15.5 hectares (Wikipedia).
  6. Tazza: stored as a cafe, on Petraki.
  7. Rhino Vegan Beat Athens: stored as a restaurant, on Perikleous.
  8. GB Roof Garden: stored as a rooftop bar, with Syntagma Square in its address. Finish here.

Getting around

How I would swipe this in NomadSwipe

I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Athens deck, swipe right on the museums and the places to eat that match my taste, and swipe left on the rest. The deck also holds hotels, so I would skip those when I am planning a day. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster together, and let those clusters become the two days. Because the Acropolis hill is not a card in the Athens deck I searched, I would add it as a custom pin. NomadSwipe is Android only for now, and iPhone is coming soon.

Questions about this guide

Is the Acropolis itself in this plan?

No. The Athens place data I searched has no card for the Acropolis hill, so the plan uses the Acropolis Museum instead. Add the hill to your own map as a custom pin or in any maps app.

Where do the ratings and review counts come from?

They are the values stored in the NomadSwipe app's Athens place data, read on 3 November 2026. The stored rows were last updated between 2 May and 16 July 2026, so live ratings may differ.

How far apart are the stops?

By straight line between stored coordinates, day one covers about 2.1 km in total and day two about 4.4 km. These are not walking times, because streets and hills add distance.

Is NomadSwipe available on iPhone?

Not yet. NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play, and iPhone is coming soon.

Build your own two days

I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only for now.

Findings, method and sample

Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 3 November 2026 with read-only queries. Athens is stored as two destination rows, both named Athens, holding 499 and 248 cards. Together that is 747 cards, which share 683 distinct normalized titles, so some places appear as more than one card. I measured distance from a reference point at Syntagma Square.

Limits: the ratings and review counts are stored values that may be older than the 3 November 2026 read date, since the stored rows were last updated between 2 May and 16 July 2026. I left out hours and prices. I did not copy any third-party review text.
