Vienna in 2 days, planned from 16 real places

Vienna in 2 days, planned from 16 places in the NomadSwipe app's Vienna deck: four sights, two cafes, four restaurants and six bars. Day one stays inside the centre, and day two starts at Schönbrunn Palace. Every rating and review count is shown as stored.

Disclosure: I built NomadSwipe (Android), and I wrote this guide. Ratings, review counts and addresses are the values stored in the app's Vienna place data, read on 4 November 2026. The stored rows are older than that date, so treat them as a snapshot.

Before you start

Day 1: MuseumsQuartier to Himmelpfortgasse

Day one is the compact one. By straight line between stored coordinates, all eight stops sit within 1.2 km of Stephansplatz, and going stop to stop adds up to about 3.6 km. Streets add distance, so the real walk is longer.

  1. MuseumsQuartier Wien: stored as a tourist attraction in the 7th district. Wikipedia says the complex opened in 2001 on the site of the former imperial court stables and covers 114,310 square metres, with the Leopold Museum and MUMOK among its institutions (Wikipedia). Start here.
  2. Hǎo Noodle & Tea: stored as a restaurant on Opernring, about 0.5 km from the MuseumsQuartier. A lunch stop.
  3. Hofburg: stored as a historical site. Wikipedia calls it the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburgs, a winter seat of the emperors, and today the official residence and workplace of the Austrian President, and it lists the Imperial Treasury, the Albertina and the Austrian National Library's Prunksaal among its parts (Wikipedia). It is a complex of several attractions, so decide in advance which one you want.
  4. Jonas Reindl Coffee Roasters: stored as a cafe, about 1.1 km north of the Hofburg. A coffee stop.
  5. Needle Vinyl Bar: stored as a bar, 0.6 km on from the cafe.
  6. Loos American Bar: stored as a bar, the closest stop to Stephansplatz at 0.2 km by stored coordinates.
  7. Trattoria La No: stored as a restaurant. My dinner stop. Stored hours show it closed on Sundays, and it is the reason this day works Monday to Saturday.
  8. Bar 13 Cocktails: stored as a bar on Himmelpfortgasse, 0.2 km from the trattoria. End the evening here.

Day 2: Schönbrunn, then Wieden, Belvedere and Neubau

Day two spreads out. Schönbrunn Palace is 4.1 km by straight line from the second stop and 5.1 km from Belvedere Palace, which pushes the straight-line total to about 10.0 km. Without Schönbrunn, the other seven stops add up to about 5.8 km. Give Schönbrunn the morning, then work back toward the centre.

  1. Schönbrunn Palace: stored as a castle, on Schönbrunner Schloßstraße in the 13th district. Wikipedia describes a 1,441-room Baroque palace in Hietzing, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1996 as the Palace and Gardens of Schönbrunn (Wikipedia). The palace's own site listed daily opening hours of 8.30 am to 5 pm and garden hours of 6.30 am to 5.30 pm, and a Palace Ticket at 42 euros for adults and 30 euros for children from age 6, with State Apartments at 30 euros for adults (schoenbrunn.at, read 4 November 2026). Hours and prices change with the season, so check before you buy.
  2. blueorange - coffee & bagel: stored as a cafe on Margaretenstraße, 4.1 km from the palace. The deck holds two cafes with this name, and this is the one in the 4th district.
  3. Cucina Sebastiano: stored as a restaurant, 0.5 km from the cafe. A lunch stop: stored hours show lunch from 11 AM to 2 PM on weekdays only.
  4. Belvedere Palace: stored as a museum with no rating. Wikipedia says Prince Eugene of Savoy had it built as a summer residence, with the Upper Belvedere completed in 1723, and that it holds Klimt's The Kiss (Wikipedia). Belvedere's own homepage showed the Upper Belvedere open 9 am to 6 pm on the day I read it (belvedere.at). It is 1.0 km from the restaurant.
  5. Senhor Vinho: stored as a Portuguese restaurant in the 5th district, 2.1 km from Belvedere. It is a dinner stop: stored hours show it opening at 6 PM and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
  6. Barfly's: stored as a bar, 1.1 km from the restaurant.
  7. bestens. Cocktailbar: stored as a bar in the 7th district. Closed Mondays by stored hours.
  8. Moby Dick - Cocktailbar & Eatery: stored as a bar, 0.2 km from the previous stop. Closed Sundays and Mondays by stored hours. Finish here.

Getting around

How I would swipe this in NomadSwipe

I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Vienna deck, swipe right on the sights and the places to eat and drink that match my taste, and swipe left on the rest. The deck also holds hotels and a few places that are not in Vienna at all, so I would skip those. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster together, and let those clusters become the two days. Because St. Stephen's Cathedral is not a card in the Vienna deck I searched, I would add it as a custom pin. NomadSwipe is Android only for now, and iPhone is coming soon.

Questions about this guide

Are St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Opera or the Albertina in this plan?

No. The Vienna place data I searched has no card for them. Searches for Stephansdom, Albertina, Karlskirche, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Riesenrad and the Parliament found nothing, and the only matches for Stephansplatz, Oper and Rathaus were hotels and a cafe. The plan uses the four sights the deck does hold, and you can add the rest as custom pins.

Which days of the week does this plan work?

By the opening hours stored in the app, day one works Monday to Saturday and day two works Tuesday to Friday, because Senhor Vinho, Moby Dick and bestens are closed on Mondays (the first two also on Sundays), and Cucina Sebastiano is closed on Sundays and has no lunch on Saturdays. Stored hours date from 9 May 2026, so check each place before you go.

How far apart are the stops?

By straight line between stored coordinates, day one covers about 3.6 km in total. Day two covers about 10.0 km because Schönbrunn Palace is 4.1 km from the next stop; without Schönbrunn the day is about 5.8 km. These are not walking times.

Where do the ratings and review counts come from?

They are the values stored in the NomadSwipe app's Vienna place data, read on 4 November 2026. All 500 stored rows were written on 9 May 2026, so live ratings may differ.

Is NomadSwipe available on iPhone?

Not yet. NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play, and iPhone is coming soon.

Build your own two days

I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only for now.

Findings, method and sample

Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 4 November 2026 with read-only queries. Vienna is stored as two destination rows, both named Vienna, holding 500 and 26 cards. I used the larger one. Its 500 cards share 454 distinct titles once case and spacing are ignored, so some places appear as more than one card. I measured distance from a reference point I chose at Stephansplatz (48.20849 N, 16.37208 E), by straight line between stored coordinates.

Limits: all 500 stored rows were written on 9 May 2026, so ratings, review counts and hours may have changed since. I did not read hours or prices for the restaurants, cafes and bars from their own sites, and I did not copy any third-party review text. Fares and Belvedere ticket prices are left out because those pages did not load for me.
