Albuquerque in 2 days: 15 stops matched to opening hours
This Albuquerque 2-day itinerary has 15 stops from the NomadSwipe app's 459 distinct places. Day one is a walkable Old Town and museum loop that works Wednesday to Saturday. Day two is a driving day to the Sandia Peak Tramway, with a Sunday and Tuesday swap.
The plan at a glance
- Day 1, Old Town and the museums: the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden, Tingley Beach, Old Town Albuquerque, the Rattlesnake Museum, lunch at Los Compadres, the Albuquerque Museum, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, Explora and dinner at Antiquity.
- Day 2, east side and downtown: Coda Bakery, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, the Sandia Peak Tramway, La Cumbre Brewing, dinner at Himawari Ramen and the Kimo Theatre.
- Days of the week: day one works Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Day two works Monday and Wednesday to Saturday. Day one has swaps for Sunday and Tuesday, day two has swaps for Sunday and Tuesday, and Monday is a poor day for day one (see the weekday table).
- Distance: day one adds up to about 5.0 km by straight line between stored coordinates, with no leg over 1.22 km. Day two adds up to about 38.7 km, with two legs of about 14.7 km. These are not travel times.
A deck with few sights, a lot of food, and some places that are not in Albuquerque
Of the 459 distinct places in the Albuquerque deck, 98 are sights by my grouping, 276 are restaurants, cafes, bakeries and other food places and 35 are bars, breweries and pubs. The sights span ten stored categories, and 58 of the 98 have a stored rating. Only 20 are rated 4.0 or higher with at least 100 stored reviews, and 5 of those lie outside a rough box around the city, including a botanical garden in Phoenix and zoos in Colorado Springs, Oklahoma City and Tucson. That leaves 15 cards, which are 14 places because Tingley Beach is stored twice under two place IDs. This plan uses ten sights from those, five of them museums, and adds five restaurants, a bakery and a brewery for the rest of the day.
- Prices are left out. I did not source ticket prices from official pages this run, so check each place's own website the day you go. Official sites often block automated readers, and I did not use any of them.
- Some well-known names are missing. A title search found no card for Petroglyph National Monument, the Rio Grande Nature Center, Sandia Crest or the Balloon Fiesta (details in the findings).
- Add your own pins. Anything you want that the deck lacks is yours to add on the map yourself.
Which days of the week work
I parsed the stored weekly hours of the 13 stops that have them with a script, set a suggested start time for each, and tested every weekday. A stop fails a day if its stored hours are closed or do not cover the start time. Tingley Beach and the Kimo Theatre have no stored hours, so the script cannot test them.
| Weekday | Day 1 works? | Day 2 works? |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | No: four stops are stored as closed (no swap built) | Yes |
| Tuesday | No: the Natural History museum is stored as closed (drop it) | No: the Tramway is stored as closed (swap) |
| Wednesday | Yes | Yes |
| Thursday | Yes | Yes |
| Friday | Yes | Yes |
| Saturday | Yes | Yes |
| Sunday | No: the Rattlesnake Museum and Antiquity are stored as closed (swap) | No: Coda Bakery opens at 10:30 AM (shift the start) |
Day one fails on four stops on Monday: the Rattlesnake Museum, Los Compadres, the Albuquerque Museum and Antiquity are all stored as closed, and I did not build a swap for four stops. On Tuesday only the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science fails, so drop it and give the time to Explora, which is stored as open daily. On Sunday the Rattlesnake Museum and Antiquity fail. Drop the museum, and for dinner use Don Sushi (stored as a restaurant, 4.4 from 1,136 reviews, open noon to 9 PM on Sunday), which is 2.04 km from Explora by stored coordinates. Day two is easier. On Tuesday the Sandia Peak Tramway is stored as closed, so put the ABQ BioPark Zoo in its slot (stored as a zoo at 2601 Central Ave NW, 4.1 from 689 reviews, open 9 AM to 5 PM daily), 11.6 km from the Nuclear Science museum and 6.2 km from La Cumbre. On Sunday Coda Bakery opens at 10:30 AM, so start there at 10:30 and move the museum to 11:30. Wednesday and Thursday, Thursday and Friday, or Friday and Saturday work in either order. Hours also change on public holidays, so confirm before you go.
Day 1: Old Town and the museums
Day one starts at the botanic garden, passes Tingley Beach, and then stays in the Old Town and museum cluster, where most stops are within 0.9 km of the next. By straight line between stored coordinates, the farthest pair, the Botanic Garden and Explora, is 1.59 km apart, and going stop to stop adds up to about 5.0 km. The longest leg, 1.22 km, is from Tingley Beach to Old Town. Times below are my suggested start times.
- 9:00, ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden: stored as a garden, 4.6 from 1,048 reviews, open 9 AM to 5 PM every day, so 9:00 is the opening time. The stored address is only "Albuquerque, NM 87104".
- 10:30, Tingley Beach: stored as a park, 4.0 from 163 reviews, with no stored hours, so I cannot match it to a weekday. It also appears as a beach under a second place ID. 1.09 km from the garden.
- 11:15, Old Town Albuquerque: stored as a historic site at Old Town Rd NW, 4.2 from 5,632 reviews, the second most reviewed sight in the deck after the Sandia Peak Tramway (counting only places inside the city box). Stored hours are 10 AM to 8 PM Monday to Wednesday, to 9 PM on Thursday and Friday, 9 AM to 9 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 7 PM on Sunday. 1.22 km from Tingley Beach.
- 11:45, Rattlesnake Museum & Gift Shop: stored as a museum at 202 San Felipe St NW, 4.4 from 582 reviews. Stored hours are 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM Tuesday to Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday. Only 0.07 km from Old Town.
- 12:30, Los Compadres Restaurant: stored as a restaurant at 2437 Central Ave NW, 4.7 from 14,507 reviews, the most reviewed restaurant in the deck. Open 9 AM to 8 PM (9 AM to 2 PM on Sunday) and closed Monday. 0.72 km from the museum.
- 14:00, Albuquerque Museum: stored as a museum, 4.5 from 749 reviews, open 9 AM to 5 PM and closed Monday. 0.86 km from lunch.
- 15:15, New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science: stored as a museum, 4.4 from 997 reviews, open 9 AM to 5 PM and closed Tuesday. Only 0.26 km from the Albuquerque Museum.
- 16:15, Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque: stored as a museum, 4.8 from 961 reviews, open 10 AM to 5 PM every day. It closes at 5, so a 16:15 start leaves under an hour, and it is 0.15 km from the previous stop. Cut it if you want to linger at the two museums before it.
- 18:30, Antiquity Restaurant: stored as a restaurant, 4.6 from 1,478 reviews. Open 5 PM to 10 PM on Friday and Saturday, 5 PM to 9 PM on Tuesday to Thursday, and closed Sunday and Monday. 0.60 km from Explora.

Day 2: east side and downtown
Day two is spread out. The farthest pair, the Sandia Peak Tramway and the bakery, is 19.7 km apart by straight line, and going stop to stop adds up to about 38.7 km. The longest leg is 14.72 km, from the Nuclear Science museum to the Tramway, and the Tramway to La Cumbre leg is 14.68 km. The last two stops, dinner and the theatre, are within 0.05 km of each other. I read no transit source this run, so I give straight-line distances only and no travel times. The two days are about 7.9 km apart between their centres. Times below are my suggested start times.
- 9:00, Coda Bakery: stored as a bakery at 201 San Pedro Dr SE Ste B1, 4.5 from 672 reviews. Open 9 AM to 5:30 PM Monday to Saturday and 10:30 AM to 5 PM on Sunday.
- 10:00, National Museum of Nuclear Science & History: stored as a museum at 601 Eubank Blvd SE, 4.6 from 1,585 reviews, open 8 AM to 5 PM every day. 4.20 km from the bakery.
- 13:30, Sandia Peak Tramway: stored as a tourist attraction at 30 Tramway Rd NE, 4.6 from 7,850 reviews, the most reviewed sight inside the city box. Open 9 AM to 8 PM and closed Tuesday. 14.72 km from the museum, so give the afternoon to it.
- 17:30, La Cumbre Brewing Co: stored as a brewery at 3313 Girard Blvd NE, 4.5 from 526 reviews. Open noon to 10 PM on Sunday and Monday, noon to 11 PM Tuesday to Thursday and noon to midnight on Friday and Saturday. 14.68 km from the Tramway.
- 18:45, Himawari Ramen: stored as a restaurant at 505 Central Ave NW, 4.7 from 524 reviews. Open 11 AM to 9 PM on Thursday to Saturday and 11 AM to 8 PM on the other days, so 18:45 leaves 75 minutes on the early-closing nights. 5.09 km from the brewery.
- 20:00, Kimo Theatre: stored as a theater and concert hall, 4.7 from 148 reviews, with no stored hours and only "Albuquerque, NM 87102" as an address. Only 0.04 km from dinner, so I would walk past it and check any show on its own site.
| Time | Place | Category as stored | Rating | Reviews | Address as stored | Stored hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9:00 | Coda Bakery | Bakery | 4.5 | 672 | 201 San Pedro Dr SE Ste B1, Albuquerque, NM 87108 | Mon-Sat 9 AM-5:30 PM; Sun 10:30 AM-5 PM |
| 10:00 | National Museum of Nuclear Science & History | Museum | 4.6 | 1,585 | 601 Eubank Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123 | Daily 8 AM-5 PM |

Where the stored hours bind
These are the stops whose stored hours decide the start time or the weekday.

|---|---|---|
| Rattlesnake Museum | Opens 11:30 AM; closed Sun-Mon | The 11:45 start, and day one's Sunday drop |
| Antiquity Restaurant | Opens 5 PM; closed Sun-Mon | The 18:30 dinner, and day one's Sunday swap |
| New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science | Closes 5 PM; closed Tue | The 15:15 start, and day one's Tuesday drop |
| Explora | Daily 10 AM-5 PM | The short last hour before dinner |
| Los Compadres Restaurant | Closes 2 PM on Sun; closed Mon | The 12:30 lunch, and day one's Monday |
| Sandia Peak Tramway | Daily 9 AM-8 PM; closed Tue | Day two's Tuesday swap |

What I left out, and why
- Duplicate cards. The deck has 463 cards for 459 distinct place IDs, and 420 distinct titles. Tingley Beach is stored under two IDs, as a park and as a beach, and chains repeat once per location. I used each place once.
- Cards outside the city. 19 of the 459 places sit outside a rough box around Albuquerque. Among the sights, 8 are outside it. The highest-rated outside cards include the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix (stored latitude 33.46, longitude -111.94, 4.8 from 21,727 reviews), the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, the Oklahoma City Zoo and the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson. I skipped them. The Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo (stored as a historic site, 4.5 from 279 reviews, latitude 35.33) also falls just outside the box, so I left it out.
- Day trips east. Tinkertown Museum (stored at Sandia Park, a museum, 4.7 from 482 reviews) is stored as open Friday to Monday and closed Tuesday to Thursday. It is about 10.5 km farther east than the Tramway by stored coordinates, so I left it out of a two-day plan.
- Sights with no stored hours. The Turquoise Museum (4.6 from 693 reviews) is stored under the category "School" with no hours, and the Popejoy Hall theatre (4.1 from 103) has none. I used only two such cards, Tingley Beach and the Kimo Theatre.
- Other sights. The New Mexico Steam Locomotive (4.9 from 207 reviews) is stored as open only on Wednesday and Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM, so it would have limited the plan to two weekdays. The Balloon Museum is stored at 4.0 from 79 reviews, under my 100-review line, and the 16 art gallery cards have at most 18 reviews each.
Getting around between the stops
- Day one is compact. Every leg is 0.07 to 1.22 km by straight line, and the two longest are the first two, from the garden to Tingley Beach and from there to Old Town. Streets make the real walk longer than the straight line.
- Day two is a car day. Two legs of about 14.7 km and one of 5.1 km are the ones to plan a ride for. Transit routes, fares and times are left out because I did not read an official page for them this run.
- In the app: each card shows its distance and opening status, and the list sorts by rating, distance or A to Z.
How I would swipe the Albuquerque deck
I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Albuquerque deck and swipe right on the museums, historic sites and a few places to eat and drink that match my taste, and left on the rest, because the deck holds a lot of food places, a thin set of rated sights and several cards that are not in Albuquerque at all. I would check any card with a missing rating or hours before saving it. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster. In this deck they fall into two groups: the Old Town, museum and BioPark addresses on one side, and a spread of east-side, Girard Boulevard and downtown addresses on the other, about 7.9 km apart between their centres, and those became my two days. The closed-day pattern above is the part to check last, because a good cluster can still land on the wrong weekday. NomadSwipe is Android only.
Questions about this Albuquerque plan
Can I follow this Albuquerque plan on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday?
Not as written. On Sunday, drop the Rattlesnake Museum and eat at Don Sushi instead of Antiquity, because both are stored as closed that day, and open day two at 10:30 AM because Coda Bakery opens then. On Tuesday, drop the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science on day one and replace the Sandia Peak Tramway with the ABQ BioPark Zoo on day two, because both are stored as closed. On Monday, four day-one stops are stored as closed and I did not build a swap, while day two works as written. The stored hours were read on 6 November 2026, so confirm them before you go.
Which days of the week work for both days?
Day one works as written from Wednesday to Saturday. Day two works as written on Monday and from Wednesday to Saturday. So Wednesday then Thursday, Thursday then Friday and Friday then Saturday all work with the stops and times as written. All 13 stops that have stored hours are stored as open at their suggested start times on those days.
Do I need a car on day two?
Plan on a car or a ride. By straight line between stored coordinates, day two runs 4.2 km from the bakery to the Nuclear Science museum, 14.7 km on to the Sandia Peak Tramway, 14.7 km back to La Cumbre Brewing and 5.1 km to downtown. I read no transit source, so I give straight-line distances only and no travel times. Day one stays within 1.6 km and is the walkable one.
How were the 15 stops chosen?
I picked cards by hand from the app's Albuquerque data with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher and at least 100 stored reviews, kept them inside a rough box around the city, and checked each suggested start time against the stored weekly hours. Two stops, Tingley Beach and the Kimo Theatre, have no stored hours, so I kept them for their ratings and their position between other stops.
Build your own two days
I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only.
Findings, method and sample
Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 6 November 2026 with read-only queries. Albuquerque is stored as two destination rows, "Albuquerque" with 457 cards and "Albuquerque, United States" with 6, which together hold 463 cards. I grouped them by place ID, which gives 459 distinct places and 420 distinct titles (case-insensitive), because the same venue can appear under more than one place ID. Where a place had two rows I kept the one with stored hours, then the one with more reviews. The counts below are of the 459 places. An empty stored hours list counts as no stored hours. I measured distance in a straight line between stored coordinates. Every row was last updated between 8 May and 13 July 2026.
- Of the 459 places, 292 have a stored rating, and 206 of those are rated 4.0 or higher (71%). 109 are rated 4.5 or higher (37%). The median stored rating is 4.2.
- I grouped the places by stored category into buckets I defined myself: 98 sights (tourist attractions, parks, museums, art galleries, theaters and concert halls, historic sites, gardens, zoos, a beach and a stadium), 276 restaurants, cafes, bakeries and other food places, 35 bars, breweries and pubs and 50 other places. The bucket totals sum to 459. Sights are 21% of the deck, so food and drink dominate it.
- The sights come in ten stored categories, counted case-sensitively on the CamelCase category names: tourist attraction (21), park (20), museum (18), art gallery (16), theater and concert hall (13), zoo (4), historic site (2), garden (2), beach (1) and stadium (1). Two lowercase "park" cards and one lowercase "museum" card are another scraped taxonomy and are not merged. 76 of the 98 sights have stored hours and 22 do not, 58 have a stored rating and 56 have at least one review.
- Sight cards are thin on reviews. 21 of the 98 sights have at least 100 stored reviews, and 20 are rated 4.0 or higher with at least 100 reviews. 15 of those 20 lie inside a rough box around the city, which is 14 distinct places because Tingley Beach is stored twice, and 11 of the 15 have stored hours. No art gallery card has more than 18 stored reviews, and the most reviewed park has 163.
- 315 of the 459 places have stored weekly hours (69%). Of those, 73 show Monday as closed (23%), 80 show Sunday as closed (25%), 39 show Tuesday, 27 show Saturday, 19 show Wednesday, 12 show Thursday and 7 show Friday. 123 places show at least one closed day (39%).
- Landmark search: titles were searched for Petroglyph National Monument, the Rio Grande Nature Center, Sandia Crest, the Unser Racing Museum, the Albuquerque rail yards, San Felipe de Neri and the Balloon Fiesta. None returned a card, apart from the Balloon Museum (4.0 from 79 reviews). The Sandia search returned the Tramway, a foothills open space (4.5 from 2 reviews) and an amphitheatre (3.0 from 45).
- 440 of the 459 places fall inside a rough box around the city (latitude 34.9 to 35.3, longitude -107.0 to -106.3), and 19 fall outside it. 8 of the 98 sights fall outside. The outside cards include the Desert Botanical Garden (latitude 33.46, longitude -111.94), the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (38.77, -104.85), the Oklahoma City Zoo (35.52, -97.47) and the Reid Park Zoo (32.21, -110.92). The box also takes in towns such as Corrales and Sandia Park, so I picked stops by address and coordinates, not by the box alone.
- I chose the 15 stops by hand: cards with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher and at least 100 stored reviews (lowest rating 4.0, fewest reviews 148), chosen to mix categories, keep day one in one area and fit the stored opening days. They are ten sights, five of them museums, and five food and drink places, across nine stored categories, and 13 of the 15 have stored hours. They are not simply the 15 highest-rated cards. The 100 line is mine, not a rule in the app.
- Using straight-line distance between stored coordinates, day one totals about 5.0 km (longest leg 1.22 km, farthest pair 1.59 km) and day two about 38.7 km (longest leg 14.72 km, farthest pair 19.68 km). The centres of the two days are about 7.9 km apart. These are not travel times.
Limits: the ratings, review counts and hours are stored values from May to July 2026 that may have changed since. Tingley Beach and the Kimo Theatre have no stored hours and are not weekday-tested. The suggested start times are mine and are checked only against stored hours. The swaps for Sunday and Tuesday, and the Sunday shift on day two, are checked against stored hours by hand, not by the script. I left out ticket prices, transit fares and travel times, and I did not copy any third-party review text.
