Chicago in 2 days: 16 stops matched to opening days
A Chicago 2-day itinerary of 16 stops from the NomadSwipe app's 501 distinct Chicago places, with every start time checked against stored opening hours. Wednesday-Thursday, Thursday-Friday and Friday-Saturday work as written. A Tuesday visit needs swaps: the Art Institute and the Lincoln Park Conservatory are both stored as closed.
The plan at a glance
- Day 1, from the Field Museum to River North: the Field Museum, lunch at Cafecito on Congress Parkway, the Rookery Building, the Chicago Fed Money Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Chicago Theatre, dinner at Sunda New Asian and a drink at Three Dots and a Dash.
- Day 2, Lincoln Park: the Lincoln Park Conservatory, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, lunch at the Fullerton Parkway Cafecito, the Chicago History Museum, Oz Park, dinner at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! and a late drink at King of Cups.
- Days of the week: day one works Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, day two works Wednesday to Sunday, and the pairs Wednesday-Thursday, Thursday-Friday and Friday-Saturday work as written. Day one has swaps for Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, day two has one for Tuesday, and Monday is a bad day for day two (see the weekday table).
- Distance: day one adds up to about 4.6 km by straight line between stored coordinates, and day two to about 4.8 km, with no leg over 1.7 km. These are not walking times.
A deck where sights lead, but few have many reviews
Of the 501 distinct places in the Chicago deck, 213 are sights by my grouping, 87 are bars and breweries, 57 are sports and recreation places, 53 are hotels or other lodging and 52 are restaurants and cafes. The sights span nine stored categories, and 131 of the 213 have a stored rating. Only 46 of them are rated 4.0 or higher with at least 100 stored reviews, and 44 of those sit inside a rough box around the city. This plan uses ten sights from those 44: the Field Museum, the Rookery Building, the Chicago Fed Money Museum, the Art Institute, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Chicago Theatre, the Lincoln Park Conservatory, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Chicago History Museum and Oz Park. Five of the ten are museums.
- Prices are left out. I did not source ticket prices from official pages this run, so check each place's own website the day you go.
- Some well-known names are missing. A title search found no card for Millennium Park, Cloud Gate, Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Wrigley Field, the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, the Lincoln Park Zoo or the Museum of Science and Industry (details in the findings).
- Add your own pins. Anything you want that the deck lacks is yours to add on the map yourself.
Which days of the week work
I parsed the stored weekly hours of the 14 stops that have them with a script, set a suggested start time for each, and tested every weekday. A stop fails a day if its stored hours are closed or do not cover the start time. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Chicago Theatre have no stored hours, so the script cannot test them.
| Weekday | Day 1 works? | Day 2 works? |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Yes | No: the Conservatory and the History Museum are stored as closed |
| Tuesday | No: the Art Institute is stored as closed (swap) | No: the Conservatory is stored as closed (drop it) |
| Wednesday | Yes | Yes |
| Thursday | Yes | Yes |
| Friday | Yes | Yes |
| Saturday | No: the Fed Money Museum is stored as closed (swap) | Yes |
| Sunday | No: the Rookery and the Fed Money Museum are stored as closed (swap) | Yes |
Day one fails on one or two stops on each of its three bad days. On Tuesday the Art Institute is stored as closed, so swap its 15:00 slot for the Medieval Torture Museum (stored as a museum, 4.8 from 1,467 reviews, open 10 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday), about 0.9 km from the Fed Money Museum by stored coordinates. On Saturday and Sunday the Chicago Fed Money Museum is stored as closed, so swap its 14:00 slot for Museum of Illusions Chicago (stored as a museum, 4.2 from 280 reviews, open 10 AM to 9 PM on Saturday and 10 AM to 8 PM on Sunday), 0.60 km from the Rookery. The Rookery is also stored as closed on Sunday and as closing at 2 PM on Saturday, so drop it on Sunday and keep the 13:15 start on Saturday. Day two is harder on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday only the Conservatory fails, so skip it and give the time to the Nature Museum, which is stored as open daily. On Monday both the Conservatory and the History Museum are stored as closed, and I did not build a swap for two stops. Wednesday and Thursday, or Thursday and Friday, work in either order, and Friday then Saturday works with day one first. Hours also change on public holidays, so confirm before you go.
Day 1: the Field Museum to River North
Day one starts at the Field Museum, runs north through the Loop and ends in River North. By straight line between stored coordinates, the farthest pair, the Field Museum and Sunda, is 3.0 km apart, and going stop to stop adds up to about 4.6 km. The longest single leg, 1.32 km, is from the Field Museum to lunch. Times below are my suggested start times.
- 9:00, Field Museum: stored as a museum at 1400 S Lake Shore Dr, 4.4 from 10,624 reviews, open 9 AM to 5 PM every day, so 9:00 is the opening time and leaves three hours before lunch.
- 12:15, Cafecito (Congress Parkway): stored as a restaurant at 26 W Congress Pkwy, 4.6 from 1,494 reviews, open 8 AM to 8 PM (to 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday). The deck stores three Cafecito locations under separate place IDs, so I use this one and the Fullerton Parkway one on day two. 1.32 km from the museum.
- 13:15, The Rookery Building: stored as a historic site at 209 S LaSalle St, 4.5 from 496 reviews. Stored hours are 6 AM to 6 PM Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 2 PM on Saturday and closed on Sunday. 0.57 km from lunch.
- 14:00, Chicago Fed Money Museum: stored as a museum at 230 S LaSalle St, 4.6 from 634 reviews, open 10 AM to 5 PM Monday to Friday and closed at the weekend. Only 0.12 km from the Rookery, and it closes at 5 PM, so it goes before the Art Institute.
- 15:00, The Art Institute of Chicago: stored as a museum at 111 S Michigan Ave, 4.8 from 27,233 reviews, the most reviewed sight in the deck. Open 11 AM to 5 PM, to 8 PM on Thursday, and closed Tuesday. A 15:00 start leaves two hours on most days. 0.89 km from the Money Museum.
- 17:30, Jay Pritzker Pavilion: stored as a tourist attraction at 201 E Randolph St, 4.6 from 646 reviews, with no stored hours, so I cannot match it to a weekday. 0.40 km from the Art Institute.
- 18:15, The Chicago Theatre: stored as a tourist attraction at 175 N State St, 4.4 from 1,385 reviews, with no stored hours either. 0.53 km from the pavilion.
- 19:15, Sunda New Asian - River North: stored as a restaurant at 110 W Illinois St, 4.3 from 6,631 reviews. Open 4 PM to 10 PM Monday to Thursday, to 11 PM on Friday, and 11 AM to 2 PM plus 4 PM to 11 PM on Saturday (to 10 PM on Sunday), so 19:15 fits every day. 0.70 km from the theatre.
- 21:00, Three Dots and a Dash: stored as a bar at 435 N Clark St, 4.1 from 4,795 reviews, open from 4 PM to midnight (to 1 AM on Thursday and Friday, from 2 PM on Saturday). Only 0.11 km from dinner.

Day 2: Lincoln Park
Day two stays in one neighbourhood. The farthest pair, the Nature Museum and the History Museum, is 1.67 km apart by straight line, and going stop to stop adds up to about 4.8 km. The longest leg is 1.65 km, from lunch to the History Museum. The last three stops, Oz Park, dinner and the bar, are within 0.5 km of each other. I read no transit source this run, so I give straight-line distances only and no travel times. Times below are my suggested start times.
- 10:30, Lincoln Park Conservatory (Reservations Required): stored under that name as a garden at 2391 N Stockton Dr, 4.6 from 1,124 reviews. Stored hours are 10 AM to 4:30 PM from Wednesday to Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday. The stored name says reservations are required, which I could not check, so confirm before you go.
- 11:45, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum: stored as a museum at 2430 N Cannon Dr, 4.5 from 429 reviews, open 10 AM to 4 PM every day. Only 0.30 km from the Conservatory.
- 13:15, Cafecito (Fullerton Parkway): stored as a restaurant at 411 W Fullerton Pkwy, 4.6 from 2,219 reviews, open 8 AM to 8 PM every day. 0.42 km from the museum.
- 14:30, Chicago History Museum: stored as a museum at 1601 N Clark St, 4.3 from 1,642 reviews. Open 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 5 PM on Sunday and closed Monday, so a 14:30 start leaves two hours. It is the longest leg of the day at 1.65 km.
- 16:30, Oz Park: stored as a park at 2021 N Burling St, 4.5 from 213 reviews, open 6 AM to 11 PM every day. 1.54 km from the History Museum.
- 18:30, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!: stored as a restaurant at 2024 N Halsted St, 4.5 from 6,919 reviews. Open 4 PM to 9 PM Monday to Thursday, 11:30 AM to 11 PM on Friday, 10 AM to 11 PM on Saturday and 10 AM to 9 PM on Sunday, so 18:30 leaves 2.5 hours on the early-closing nights. 0.33 km from the park.
- 20:30, King of Cups: stored as a bar at 2238 N Lincoln Ave, 4.5 from 133 reviews, open 5 PM to 2 AM every day. 0.50 km from dinner.

Where the stored hours bind
These are the stops whose stored hours decide the start time or the weekday.
| Stop | Stored hours | What it forces |
|---|---|---|
| Art Institute of Chicago | Closes 5 PM (8 PM Thursday); closed Tue | The 15:00 start, and day one's Tuesday swap |
| Chicago Fed Money Museum | Mon-Fri 10 AM-5 PM; closed Sat-Sun | Day one's weekend swap, and a slot before the Art Institute |
| The Rookery Building | Sat to 2 PM; closed Sun | The 13:15 start, and day one's Sunday drop |
| Lincoln Park Conservatory | Closes 4:30 PM; closed Mon-Tue | The 10:30 start, and day two's weekdays |
| Chicago History Museum | Closes 4:30 PM; opens noon on Sunday; closed Mon | The 14:30 start, and day two's Monday |
| Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum | Daily 10 AM-4 PM | The 11:45 start, before lunch |
| Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! | Opens 4 PM Monday to Thursday | The 18:30 dinner |
What I left out, and why
- Duplicate cards. The deck has 503 cards for 501 distinct place IDs, and 493 distinct titles. Chains such as Cafecito are stored once per location, three times here. I use two.
- Cards outside the city. 48 of the 501 places sit outside a rough box around Chicago. They include Founders Brewing Co in Grand Rapids, Michigan (stored latitude 42.96, longitude -85.67), 3 Floyds Brewing in Munster, Indiana and a restaurant in Jupiter, Florida (latitude 26.93, longitude -80.08). I skipped them. The Chicago Botanic Garden, stored as a garden at 4.6 from 2,473 reviews with an address in Glencoe, also falls outside the box, so I left it out.
- Sights with no stored hours. The Chicago Water Tower (4.1 from 328 reviews), Tribune Tower (4.5 from 699), McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum (4.3 from 202) and the James M. Nederlander Theatre have no stored hours. I used only two such cards, the pavilion and the theatre, and kept the rest out.
- Art galleries. The deck has 30 art gallery cards and none has more than 41 stored reviews, so none passes the 100-review line.
- Hotels. 53 of the 501 places are hotels or other lodging, and one has stored hours, so I skipped them for a day plan.
Getting around between the stops
- Day one is mostly compact. Seven of its eight legs are 0.11 to 0.89 km by straight line, and the 1.32 km leg from the Field Museum to lunch is the one to plan a ride for. Streets make the real walk longer than the straight line.
- Day two has two longer legs. The 1.65 km leg from lunch to the History Museum and the 1.54 km leg from there to Oz Park are the ones to plan a ride for. Transit routes, fares and times are left out because I did not read an official page for them this run.
- In the app: each card shows its distance and opening status, and the list sorts by rating, distance or A to Z.
How I would swipe the Chicago deck
I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Chicago deck and swipe right on the museums, gardens and historic sites that match my taste and on a few places to eat and drink, and left on the rest, because the deck holds many sights with few reviews and several cards that are not in Chicago at all. I would check any card with a missing rating or hours before saving it. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster. In this deck they fall into two groups: the Field Museum, Loop and River North addresses on one side, and the Lincoln Park and Halsted Street addresses on the other, about 4.6 km apart between their centres, and those became my two days. The closed-day pattern above is the part to check last, because a good cluster can still land on the wrong weekday. NomadSwipe is Android only.
Questions about this Chicago plan
Can I follow this Chicago plan on a Monday or Tuesday?
Day one works on Monday as written. On Tuesday, replace the Art Institute of Chicago, which is stored as closed, with the Medieval Torture Museum, which is stored as open 10 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday. Day two does not work on Monday, because the Lincoln Park Conservatory and the Chicago History Museum are both stored as closed. On Tuesday, drop the Conservatory, which is stored as closed, and spend longer at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, which is stored as open daily. The stored hours were read on 5 November 2026, so confirm them before you go.
Which days of the week work for both days?
Wednesday and Thursday, or Thursday and Friday, work in either order, and Friday then Saturday works with day one first. All 14 stops that have stored hours are stored as open at their suggested start times on those days. Day one also works on Monday, and day two works on any day from Wednesday to Sunday. Saturday and Sunday need a day-one swap.
Why are Millennium Park, Navy Pier and Willis Tower not in the plan?
A title search of the app's Chicago data found no sight card for any of them, so I cannot match them to opening days and I did not add them from memory. If one is why you came, add it as your own pin and check its hours on its official page.
How were the 16 stops chosen?
I picked cards by hand from the app's Chicago data with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher and at least 100 stored reviews, then checked each suggested start time against the stored weekly hours. Two stops, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Chicago Theatre, have no stored hours, so I kept them for their ratings and their position between other stops. Day one stays within 3.0 km and day two within 1.7 km, both by straight line between stored coordinates.
Build your own two days
I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only.
Findings, method and sample
Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 5 November 2026 with read-only queries. Chicago is stored as three destination rows with the same name, which together hold 503 cards (501, 2 and 0). I grouped them by place ID, which gives 501 distinct places and 493 distinct titles (case-insensitive), because the same venue can appear under more than one place ID. Where a place had two rows I kept the one with stored hours, then the one with more reviews. The counts below are of the 501 places. An empty stored hours list counts as no stored hours. I measured distance in a straight line between stored coordinates. Every row was last updated on 22 April 2026.
- Of the 501 places, 341 have a stored rating, and 230 of those are rated 4.0 or higher (67%). 110 are rated 4.5 or higher (32%). The median stored rating is 4.1.
- I grouped the places by stored category into buckets I defined myself: 213 sights (tourist attractions, theaters and concert halls, parks, art galleries, historic sites, museums, gardens and similar), 87 bars and breweries, 57 sports and recreation places, 53 hotels and other lodging, 52 restaurants and cafes and 39 other places. The bucket totals sum to 501. Sights are 43% of the deck.
- The sights come in nine stored categories: tourist attraction (53), theater and concert hall (35), park (32), art gallery (30), historic site (28), museum (24), garden (9), natural place (1) and amusement place (1). 116 of the 213 have stored hours and 131 have a stored rating.
- Sight cards are thin on reviews. 46 of the 213 sights are rated 4.0 or higher with at least 100 stored reviews, and 44 of those lie inside a rough box around the city. No art gallery card has more than 41 stored reviews, and the most reviewed park, Oz Park, has 213.
- 301 of the 501 places have stored weekly hours (60%). Of those, 79 show Monday as closed (26%), 75 show Sunday as closed (25%), 45 show Tuesday, 28 show Saturday, 22 show Wednesday, 9 show Thursday and 7 show Friday. 135 places show at least one closed day (45%). Of the 53 lodging cards, one has stored hours.
- Landmark search: titles were searched for Millennium Park, Cloud Gate, Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Wrigley Field, the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Chicago Cultural Center, the Skydeck, the Chicago Riverwalk, Buckingham Fountain and Grant Park. None returned a sight card. The Wrigley search matched only a cinema and a historic house, and the Riverwalk search matched only a hotel.
- 453 of the 501 places fall inside a rough box around the city (latitude 41.6 to 42.1, longitude -88.0 to -87.5), and 48 fall outside it. The outside cards include Founders Brewing Co (latitude 42.96, longitude -85.67), 3 Floyds Brewing (41.54, -87.52) and a restaurant in Jupiter, Florida (26.93, -80.08). The box also takes in suburbs such as Evanston and Arlington Heights, so I picked stops by address, not by the box alone.
- I chose the 16 stops by hand: cards with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher and at least 100 stored reviews (lowest rating 4.1, fewest reviews 133), chosen to mix categories, keep each day in one area and fit the stored opening days. They are five museums, one historic site, two tourist attractions, one garden, one park, four restaurants and two bars, across seven stored categories. They are not simply the 16 highest-rated cards. The 100 line is mine, not a rule in the app.
- Using straight-line distance between stored coordinates, day one totals about 4.6 km (longest leg 1.32 km, farthest pair 3.01 km) and day two about 4.8 km (longest leg 1.65 km, farthest pair 1.67 km). The centres of the two days are about 4.6 km apart. These are not walking times.
Limits: the ratings, review counts and hours are stored values from 22 April 2026 that may have changed since. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Chicago Theatre have no stored hours and are not weekday-tested. The suggested start times are mine and are checked only against stored hours. The swaps for Tuesday and the weekend are checked against stored hours by hand, not by the script. I left out ticket prices, transit fares and travel times, and I did not copy any third-party review text.
