New York City in 2 days: 14 stops matched to opening days
A 2-day New York City itinerary built from the 773 distinct places in the NomadSwipe app's New York City deck. Every stop has stored opening hours, every suggested start time falls inside them, and the plan works Wednesday to Sunday, with a one-stop swap on Monday and Tuesday.
The plan at a glance
- Day 1, Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn waterfront: One World Observatory, City Hall Park, a slice at Joe's Pizza, Time Out Market, Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5, dinner at The River Café and a drink at The Dead Rabbit.
- Day 2, Central Park to the Village: Central Park, the Intrepid Museum, lunch at Carmine's, the Merchant's House Museum, dinner at Thai Villa, then McSorley's Old Ale House and Ruffian.
- Days of the week: both days work Wednesday to Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday exactly one stop a day is stored as closed, so each day has a swap (see the weekday table).
- Distance: day one adds up to about 6.1 km by straight line between stored coordinates. Day two adds up to about 11.3 km, with two legs over 3 km, so it is a transit or taxi day. These are not walking times.
A food-first deck with a thin list of sights
The New York City deck is mostly places to eat and drink. Of its 773 distinct places, 109 are sights by my grouping, and only 12 of those are rated 4.0 or higher with at least 100 stored reviews. This plan uses six of the 12: Central Park, One World Observatory, the Intrepid Museum, Time Out Market, the Merchant's House Museum and City Hall Park. That is why the plan leans on meals and drinks to fill the hours, and why most of it is about which days they are open.
- Prices are left out. I did not source ticket prices from official pages this run, so check each place's own website the day you go.
- Several famous names are thin or missing. The Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and Times Square are cards, but without a usable rating or hours. A title search for the Empire State Building, the High Line, Top of the Rock and the Metropolitan Museum returned nothing (details in the findings).
- Add your own pins. Anything you want that the deck lacks is yours to add on the map yourself.
Which days of the week work
I parsed the stored weekly hours of all 14 stops with a script, set a suggested start time for each, and tested every weekday. A stop fails a day if its stored hours are closed or do not cover the start time.
| Weekday | Day 1 works? | Day 2 works? |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | No: The River Café is stored as closed | No: Merchant's House Museum is stored as closed |
| Tuesday | No: The River Café is stored as closed | No: Merchant's House Museum is stored as closed |
| Wednesday | Yes | Yes |
| Thursday | Yes | Yes |
| Friday | Yes | Yes |
| Saturday | Yes | Yes |
| Sunday | Yes | Yes |
Twelve of the 14 stops are stored as open every day at their start time. Four consecutive-day pairs fit both days in either order: Wednesday and Thursday, Thursday and Friday, Friday and Saturday, and Saturday and Sunday. On a Monday or Tuesday, swap dinner on day one for Fraunces Tavern, which is stored as a bar open daily from 11:30 AM to midnight and sits 0.04 km from The Dead Rabbit by stored coordinates. On day two, swap the Merchant's House Museum for Bleecker Street Pizza, stored as open daily from 10 AM to 2 AM or later, 4.5 from 12,206 reviews. Hours also change on public holidays, so confirm before you go.
Day 1: Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn waterfront
Day one runs south to north across the water. By straight line between stored coordinates, the farthest pair of stops, One World Observatory and Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5, is 2.23 km apart, and going stop to stop adds up to about 6.1 km. The longest single leg, about 1.5 km, is from the slice at Joe's Pizza to Time Out Market. Times below are my suggested start times.
- 9:00, One World Observatory: stored as a tourist attraction at 117 West St, 4.5 from 30,210 reviews, the third-most-reviewed card in the deck. Stored hours are 9 AM to 9 PM every day, so I start at opening.
- 10:30, City Hall Park: stored as a park at Broadway and Chambers St, 4.5 from 249 reviews, stored as open 6 AM to midnight every day. About 0.57 km from the observatory.
- 11:30, Joe’s Pizza: stored as a pizza place at 124 Fulton St, 4.6 from 8,846 reviews, open from 10 AM every day, and until 3 AM or later at night. Only 0.28 km from the park. The deck holds the same shop under two place IDs, and I use the one with more reviews.
- 13:00, Time Out Market New York: stored as a tourist attraction at 20 Water St in Fulton Ferry, 4.1 from 1,141 reviews, open from 8 AM to 10 PM (11 PM on Friday and Saturday). It is the longest leg of the day at 1.5 km, and it crosses to the Brooklyn side of the river.
- 15:00, Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5: stored as a park at 334 Furman St, 4.5 from only 43 reviews, so treat the rating lightly. Stored open 6 AM to 11 PM every day, 1.24 km from the market.
- 18:00, The River Café: stored as fine dining at Water St in Fulton Ferry, 4.4 from 5,629 reviews. Dinner service is 5 PM to 9:30 PM, and it is stored as closed Monday and Tuesday. About 1.15 km from the pier.
- 20:00, The Dead Rabbit: stored as a bar at 30 Water St, 4.2 from 3,552 reviews, open from 11 AM until 2 AM (3 AM on Friday and Saturday). It is back across the river, 1.37 km from dinner.

Day 2: Central Park, Midtown and the Village
Day two is the long one. The farthest pair, Central Park and the Merchant's House Museum, is 6.5 km apart by straight line, and going stop to stop adds up to about 11.3 km. The two long legs are Central Park to the Intrepid Museum (3.56 km) and Carmine's to the Merchant's House Museum (3.35 km). I read no transit source this run, so I give straight-line distances only and no travel times. The last four stops are within 1.3 km of each other. Times below are my suggested start times.
- 9:00, Central Park: stored as a park, with 134,673 reviews and a 4.7 rating, the most-reviewed card in the deck by a wide margin. Stored hours are 6 AM to 1 AM every day. The stored address is just "New York, NY".
- 11:00, Intrepid Museum: stored as a museum at 86 W 46th St, 4.5 from 10,406 reviews, open 10 AM to 5 PM every day. Allow time, as it closes at 5.
- 13:00, Carmine’s (44th Street): stored as a restaurant at 200 W 44th St, 4.3 from 20,537 reviews, the third-most-reviewed restaurant card in the deck. Open from 11:30 AM (11 AM on Saturday and Sunday), to 11 PM on weekdays and midnight Friday to Sunday. 1.46 km from the Intrepid Museum.
- 15:00, Merchant's House Museum: stored as a museum at 29 E 4th St, 4.6 from 445 reviews. Stored open noon to 5 PM Wednesday to Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday, so the 15:00 start leaves two hours before closing. I read no page describing it this run, so I only repeat the stored values.
- 17:30, Thai Villa: stored as a Thai restaurant at 5 E 19th St, 4.7 from 25,568 reviews, the most-reviewed restaurant card in the deck. It has a break between 3:15 PM and 4:30 PM, and the 17:30 start falls in the evening service, which runs to 10:15 PM (10:30 PM Saturday, 10:40 PM Friday). 1.28 km from the museum.
- 19:30, McSorley’s Old Ale House: stored as a pub at 15 E 7th St, 4.5 from 3,572 reviews. Open 11 AM to 1 AM, from noon on Sunday. 1.14 km from dinner.
- 21:30, Ruffian: stored as a wine bar at 125 E 7th St, 4.5 from 343 reviews. Open 4 PM to midnight Monday to Friday, 3 PM to midnight Saturday and 3 PM to 11 PM Sunday. A short 0.54 km from the pub.

What I left out, and why
- Famous cards with thin data. The Statue of Liberty card has no stored rating, review count or hours. The Brooklyn Bridge card has a rating of 0 and no review count, and the Times Square card has a rating of 0 and 0 reviews. I cannot match them to an opening day, so they are not in the plan.
- The 9/11 Memorial & Museum. It is stored as a museum at 180 Greenwich St, with a 4.7 rating but a review count of 0, which looks inconsistent. Its stored hours are 9 AM to 7 PM, closed Tuesday. If it is why you came, swap it in on day one on a Wednesday to Sunday.
- Three Brooklyn sights. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden (4.6 from 3,677 reviews, stored as closed Monday), the Brooklyn Museum (4.5 from 2,472, closed Monday and Tuesday) and Prospect Park (4.6 from 1,413) are all 4.2 to 4.7 km from Pier 5 by stored coordinates. They would make a third day more than a stop on these two.
- Late-night clubs stored as tourist attractions. Four cards with 15 or more reviews that are stored as tourist attractions are late-night clubs, rated 2.5 to 3.5. I skipped them.
- Hotels. 118 of the 773 places are hotels or lodging, so I skipped them for a day plan.
Getting around between the stops
- Day one is compact. Five of its six legs are 0.6 to 1.5 km by straight line. Streets and the East River make the real walk longer than the straight line.
- Day two is not. Plan a ride for the two 3-plus km legs. Transit routes, fares and times are left out because I did not read an official page for them this run.
- In the app: each card shows its distance and opening status, and the list sorts by rating, distance or A to Z. With Premium, up to 20 saved trips are available offline after you open them online; offline copies expire.
How I would swipe the New York City deck
I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the New York City deck and swipe right on the few sights and the places to eat and drink that match my taste, and left on the rest, because the deck holds many more restaurants and bars than sights. I would check any card with a zero rating or an odd address before saving it. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster. In this deck they fall into two groups, downtown and the waterfront, and the Village, and those became my two days. The closed-day pattern above is the part to check last, because a good cluster can still land on the wrong weekday. NomadSwipe is Android only.
Questions about this New York plan
Can I follow this New York plan on a Monday or Tuesday?
Yes, with one swap a day. By the stored hours, The River Café (day one) and the Merchant's House Museum (day two) are the only two stops closed on Monday and Tuesday. Swap dinner on day one for Fraunces Tavern and the museum on day two for Bleecker Street Pizza. The stored hours were read on 5 November 2026, so confirm them before you go.
Which days of the week work for both days?
Wednesday to Sunday. Every one of the 14 stops is stored as open on those five days at the suggested start time, so any two consecutive days in that range work in either order.
Why are the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and the Brooklyn Bridge not in the plan?
The app has cards for them, but the stored data is too thin to match to opening days: the Statue of Liberty card has no rating, no review count and no hours, and the Brooklyn Bridge and Times Square cards have no usable rating or hours. I left them out rather than guess. If one is why you came, add it yourself and check its hours.
How were the 14 stops chosen?
I picked cards by hand from the app's New York City data with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher, stored weekly hours and, apart from one pier, at least 240 stored reviews, then checked every suggested start time against the stored opening hours. Day one stays in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn's waterfront. Day two is longer and runs from Central Park to the Village.
Which platforms is NomadSwipe on?
NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play.
Build your own two days
I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only.
Findings, method and sample
Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 5 November 2026 with read-only queries. New York City is stored as three destination rows, one per trip, with the same name. Together they hold 851 cards. I grouped them by place ID, which gives 773 distinct places and 678 distinct titles (case-insensitive), because the same shop can appear under more than one place ID: Joe's Pizza is stored twice, with 8,846 and 7,825 reviews, and I used the row with more reviews. The counts below are of the 773 places. I measured distance in a straight line between stored coordinates. The rows were last updated between 16 April and 28 September 2026.
- Of the 773 places, 664 have a stored rating, and 493 of those are rated 4.0 or higher (74%). 261 are rated 4.5 or higher. The median stored rating is 4.3.
- I grouped the places by stored category into buckets I defined myself: 341 restaurants by cuisine plus a few miscellaneous categories, 163 bars, breweries, pubs and clubs, 118 hotels and lodging, 109 sights (parks, museums, galleries, tourist attractions, historic sites and similar) and 42 cafes and coffee places. The bucket totals sum to 773. Only 17 of the 118 lodging cards have stored hours.
- By stored category, 51 places are Thai and 29 are pizza, so Thai outnumbers pizza, although 44 titles contain the word pizza. The three largest single categories are restaurant (178), bar (106) and hotel (100).
- Of the 109 sights, 77 have stored hours and 12 are rated 4.0 or higher with at least 100 stored reviews. The most-reviewed card in the deck is Central Park (134,673 reviews), followed by a hotel (37,407), then One World Observatory (30,210) and Thai Villa (25,568).
- 557 of the 773 places have stored weekly hours (72%). Of those, 67 show Monday as closed (12%), 55 show Sunday as closed (10%), 27 show Tuesday, 19 show Saturday, 12 show Wednesday, 2 show Thursday and 1 shows Friday. 104 places show at least one closed day.
- Landmark search: titles were searched for the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, the 9/11 memorial, the Empire State Building, the High Line, Top of the Rock and the Metropolitan Museum. The first four are cards with a missing or zero rating or review count (the 9/11 card has a 4.7 rating and 0 reviews). The last four returned no card.
- 458 of the 773 places fall inside a rough box from the Battery to about 96th Street (latitude 40.70 to 40.80, longitude -74.02 to -73.93), which also takes in the Brooklyn waterfront at Fulton Ferry. 12 sit outside a wider box around the five boroughs, and some cards are in New Jersey, for example a Red Lobster in Secaucus and an observation wheel in East Rutherford.
- I chose the 14 stops by hand: cards with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher, stored hours and at least 240 stored reviews, chosen to mix categories, keep each day in one area and fit the stored opening days. The exception is Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5 (43 reviews). They are two parks, one park-like pier, two museums, one other attraction, one observation deck, one pizza place, two other restaurants, one market, and two bars plus a wine bar. They are not simply the 14 highest-rated cards. The 240 line is mine, not a rule in the app.
- Using straight-line distance between stored coordinates, day one totals about 6.1 km (longest leg 1.51 km, farthest pair 2.23 km) and day two about 11.3 km (longest leg 3.56 km, farthest pair 6.5 km). These are not walking times.
Limits: the ratings, review counts and hours are stored values from between 16 April and 28 September 2026 that may have changed since, and some duplicate rows disagree on hours (Fraunces Tavern's two rows differ on Friday and Saturday closing, so I used the later one). The suggested start times are mine and are checked only against stored hours. I left out ticket prices, transit fares and travel times, and I did not copy any third-party review text.
