Brussels in 2 days, planned from 16 real places

Brussels in 2 days, planned from 16 places in the NomadSwipe app's Brussels deck: six museums, a park, a pond, four restaurants, a cafe and two bars. Day one stays within 0.7 km of the Grand-Place, and the stored opening days decide which days of the week work.

Disclosure: I built NomadSwipe (Android), and I wrote this guide. Ratings, review counts, addresses and opening hours are the values stored in the app's Brussels place data, read on 4 November 2026. The stored rows were last updated on 9 May 2026, so treat them as a snapshot.

Before you start

Which two days of the week

I compared the stored hours of all 16 stops. Day one works Thursday, Friday or Saturday: its museums are closed Monday, Pasta Divina is closed Sunday, and The Green Man is stored as closed Monday to Wednesday. Day two works Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday: the Armed Forces museum is closed Monday, Eccetera is closed on weekends, and the Natural Sciences museum is closed Monday and Friday. Only two pairs of back-to-back days fit both: day two on Wednesday and day one on Thursday, or day two on Thursday and day one on Friday. Hours also change on public holidays, so confirm before you go.

Day 1: the Grand-Place, Manneken Pis and Mont des Arts

Day one is the compact one. By straight line between stored coordinates, all eight stops sit within 0.7 km of each other, and going stop to stop adds up to about 2.5 km. Streets and slopes make the real walk longer, and the Mont des Arts is on higher ground than the square.

  1. Brussels City Museum: stored as a museum, with an address on the Grand Place. Wikipedia says the museum is in the King's House (Maison du Roi) on the square, erected between 1504 and 1536 and rebuilt in the 19th century in neo-Gothic style, and that the original Manneken Pis statue is on its top floor (Wikipedia). Start here.
  2. Manneken Pis: stored as a tourist attraction. It has the lowest rating in this plan, 3.3, and by far the most reviews, 16,937, so I kept it as the one stop below 4.0. Wikipedia says the bronze statue is 55.5 cm tall, that the current one is a 1965 replica, and that it stands at the corner of Rue du Chêne and Rue de l'Étuve, about five minutes from the Grand-Place (Wikipedia). It sits about 0.3 km from the City Museum by stored coordinates.
  3. Pasta Divina: stored as a restaurant, on Rue de la Montagne. A lunch stop, 0.2 km from the Grand-Place by stored coordinates. Closed Sundays as stored.
  4. Aksum Coffee House: stored as a cafe, on Galerie du Roi. A short break before the climb to the Mont des Arts.
  5. Musical Instruments Museum: stored as a museum. Wikipedia says it has been housed since 2000 in the former Old England department store at 2 rue Montagne de la Cour, built in 1899 by Paul Saintenoy in Art Nouveau style (Wikipedia).
  6. Magritte Museum: stored as a museum, 0.05 km from the instruments museum by stored coordinates. Wikipedia says it opened to the public on 2 June 2009 on the Place Royale, holds about 200 original works by Magritte, and is one of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (Wikipedia).
  7. The Lobster House: stored as a restaurant, 0.2 km from the Grand-Place. Dinner, back down the hill.
  8. The Green Man Cocktail bar: stored as a bar, 0.1 km from the Grand-Place. It has the highest rating in the plan, 4.9, from 69 reviews, and it is open only Thursday to Sunday as stored. End the evening here.

Day 2: Cinquantenaire, the EU quarter and Ixelles

Day two spreads out. The straight-line total is about 5.2 km, and the longest single leg, from the Parlamentarium to the Ixelles ponds, is about 1.9 km. The two stops furthest apart, the park and the ROXI Bar, are 2.9 km from each other. Take a tram, bus or metro for that leg; Wikipedia says STIB/MIVB runs the network, with four metro lines and three premetro tram lines (Wikipedia).

  1. Parc du Cinquantenaire: stored as a park. Wikipedia says it was laid out in 1880 for the National Exhibition, covers 30 hectares, and has a memorial arcade that was inaugurated in 1905, in time for the 75th anniversary of Belgian independence (Wikipedia). Start early.
  2. Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History: stored as a museum, on Parc du Cinquantenaire. Wikipedia says it occupies the two northernmost halls of the complex and has an aviation hall with aircraft including an F-16 Fighting Falcon (Wikipedia). The same park holds the Art & History Museum, which is also in the app data (4.1, 440 reviews) if you want a third museum.
  3. Eccetera: stored as a restaurant, on Chaussée de Wavre in Etterbeek. Lunch, 1.0 km from the Armed Forces museum by stored coordinates, and open weekdays only as stored.
  4. Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences: stored as a museum. Wikipedia places it at 29 rue Vautier, in Leopold Park, and says its Dinosaur Hall holds 30 mounted Iguanodon skeletons from a coal mine at Bernissart (Wikipedia).
  5. Parlamentarium: stored as a museum, on Place du Luxembourg. Wikipedia describes it as the European Parliament's visitor centre, opened on 14 October 2011, with materials in the 24 official EU languages (Wikipedia).
  6. Étangs d'Ixelles: stored as a tourist attraction, in Ixelles. Wikipedia says they are two long, narrow ponds of about 700 m combined length, left over from a 19th-century drainage of the Maelbeek valley, with Place Flagey nearby (Wikipedia). It has only 33 reviews, so treat its 4.4 lightly.
  7. La Meute: stored as a restaurant, on Rue Lesbroussart in Ixelles, 0.6 km from the ponds by stored coordinates. Dinner.
  8. ROXI Bar: stored as a bar, in Ixelles. Finish here.

Getting around

How I would swipe this in NomadSwipe

I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Brussels deck, swipe right on the museums and the places to eat that match my taste, and swipe left on the rest. The deck also holds hotels and spas, so I would skip those when I am planning a day, and I would watch for places that are not in Brussels at all (see the findings below). Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster together, and let those clusters become the two days. Because the Grand-Place, the cathedral and the Royal Palace are not cards I found, I would add them as custom pins. NomadSwipe is Android only for now, and iPhone is coming soon.

Questions about this guide

Is the Grand-Place itself in this plan?

No stop is the square itself, because the Brussels place data I searched has no card for it. Day one is built around it anyway: the Brussels City Museum sits on the square and every day-one stop is within 0.7 km of it. Wikipedia describes the Grand-Place as a paved square of 68 by 110 metres, listed by UNESCO in 1998.

Which days of the week work for this plan?

By the opening hours stored in the app, day one works Thursday to Saturday and day two works Tuesday to Thursday. For two consecutive days, do day two on Wednesday and day one on Thursday, or day two on Thursday and day one on Friday. The stored hours are from 9 May 2026, so confirm them before you go.

Where do the ratings and review counts come from?

They are the values stored in the NomadSwipe app's Brussels place data, read on 4 November 2026. All the stored rows were last updated on 9 May 2026, so live ratings may differ.

How far apart are the stops?

By straight line between stored coordinates, day one adds up to about 2.5 km and day two about 5.2 km. These are not walking times, because streets and slopes add distance.

Is NomadSwipe available on iPhone?

Not yet. NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play, and iPhone is coming soon.

Build your own two days

I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only for now.

Findings, method and sample

Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 4 November 2026 with read-only queries. Brussels is stored as two destination rows: Brussels with 545 cards and City of Brussels with 17. I used the larger one. Its 545 cards share 536 distinct titles (case-insensitive), so a few places appear more than once. I measured distance in a straight line from a reference point at the Grand-Place, using stored coordinates.

Limits: the ratings, review counts and hours are stored values from 9 May 2026 that may have changed since. 70 of the 545 stored addresses contain HTML entity codes such as an encoded accented letter, and I show them decoded. I left out ticket prices. I did not copy any third-party review text.
