Budapest itinerary for 3 days, planned from 24 real places

This Budapest itinerary for 3 days uses 24 places from the NomadSwipe app's Budapest deck: Castle Hill on day one, the Parliament and central Pest on day two, and Andrássy út with the museums and the zoo on day three. Every rating and review count is shown as stored.

Disclosure: I built NomadSwipe (Android), and I wrote this guide. Ratings, review counts and addresses are the values stored in the app's Budapest place data, read on 4 November 2026. The stored rows are older than that date, so treat them as a snapshot.

Before you start

Day 1: Castle Hill in Buda

Day one stays on one hill. By straight line between stored coordinates, the eight stops add up to about 2.9 km, and the two furthest-apart stops are 1.5 km apart. Streets and stairs add distance, so the real walk is longer.

  1. Buda Hill Funicular: stored as a rail service on Clark Ádám tér. Wikipedia says it links Adam Clark Square and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge at river level to Buda Castle above (Wikipedia). Start here.
  2. Buda Castle: stored as a castle with a rating of 0, which I read as no rating. Wikipedia says the complex was first completed in 1265, that today's Baroque palace was built between 1749 and 1769, and that it now houses the Hungarian National Gallery, the Budapest Historical Museum and the National Széchényi Library (Wikipedia).
  3. Hungarian National Gallery: stored as a museum with the same address as the Matthias Fountain. Stored hours show it closed on Mondays, and that is the reason day one works Tuesday to Sunday.
  4. Matthias Fountain: stored as a tourist attraction, 0.15 km from the gallery.
  5. Fisherman's Bastion: stored as a tourist attraction and the second most-reviewed card within 10 km. Wikipedia calls it one of the best known historical monuments in Budapest and says it has been part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 (Wikipedia). It is 0.75 km from the fountain.
  6. Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum: stored as a museum with no rating. Wikipedia says the hospital was created in the caverns under Buda Castle in the 1930s, in preparation for the Second World War (Wikipedia). The app has no opening hours for it.
  7. Coyote Coffee&Deli: stored as a coffee shop, 0.7 km from the bunker museum. A late-afternoon coffee stop.
  8. Riso Restaurant&Terrace: stored as a restaurant, 0.7 km from the coffee shop. Stored hours show it open 11:30 AM to 11:30 PM every day. End the day here.

Day 2: the Parliament, Vörösmarty tér and the Pest side

Day two crosses to the Pest side and stays there. By straight line between stored coordinates the eight stops add up to about 4.1 km, the longest leg is 0.86 km, and the two furthest-apart stops are 2.5 km apart.

  1. Hungarian Parliament Building: stored as a government and community site, and the most-reviewed card within 10 km. Wikipedia says it was designed by Imre Steindl in neo-Gothic style, opened in 1902 and has been the largest building in Hungary since it was completed (Wikipedia). I did not check how visits or tickets work, so look at the official site first.
  2. Dose Espresso Budapest: stored as a coffee shop, 0.7 km from the Parliament. Stored hours show 8 AM to 6 PM on weekdays, 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays and closed on Sundays.
  3. Little Princess statue: stored as a historical site on Vigado tér, 0.9 km on.
  4. Il Pastaio: stored as a restaurant on Vörösmarty Tér, 0.2 km from the statue. The lunch stop. Stored hours show noon to 10:30 PM every day.
  5. Vaci Street: stored as a historical site, 0.5 km south of the restaurant.
  6. Liberty Bridge: stored as a tourist attraction. Wikipedia says it connects Buda and Pest across the Danube, and that it was originally named Ferenc József híd, the Franz Joseph Bridge (Wikipedia). It is 0.7 km from Vaci Street.
  7. Hungarian National Museum: stored as a museum, 0.8 km from the bridge. Wikipedia says it was founded in 1802 and sits in a Neoclassical building built between 1837 and 1847 by Mihály Pollack (Wikipedia). Stored hours show it closed on Mondays.
  8. Beer Brothers: stored as a bar on Kossuth Lajos utca, 0.3 km from the museum. Stored hours show it opening at 3 PM on Sundays and at 1 PM on other days. End the evening here.

Day 3: Andrássy út, the museums and the zoo

Day three heads north-east along Andrássy út. By straight line between stored coordinates the eight stops add up to about 5.1 km, and 2.4 km of that is a single hop from the zoo to the evening stops. Without that hop, the day is about 2.7 km. Three of the sights have no stored rating, so this is the day where you are choosing on name and Wikipedia, not on stars.

  1. Dorado Café: stored as a coffee shop on Klauzál utca. Stored hours show it opening at 8:30 AM on weekdays, 9 AM on weekends, and closing at 5 PM on weekdays, 4 PM on Saturdays and 3 PM on Sundays, so it is a start-of-day stop.
  2. House of Terror Museum: stored as a museum on Andrássy út, 0.8 km from the cafe. Wikipedia says it holds exhibits on the fascist and communist regimes in 20th-century Hungary and is also a memorial to the victims of those regimes (Wikipedia). It is the fourth most-reviewed card within 10 km.
  3. Ristorante Millennium da Pippo: stored as a restaurant at Andrássy út 76, 0.25 km from the museum. The lunch stop. Stored hours show noon to midnight every day.
  4. Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts: stored as a museum with no rating. Stored hours show it closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which is why day three works Wednesday to Sunday.
  5. Museum of Fine Arts: stored as a museum with no rating and no stored hours. Check its own site before you go.
  6. Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden: stored as a zoo with no rating. Wikipedia calls it the oldest zoo in Hungary and one of the oldest in the world (Wikipedia). Stored hours show 9 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and 9 AM to 7 PM on weekends.
  7. Bp BARbq: stored as a restaurant on Akácfa utca, 2.4 km from the zoo and the highest-rated eating stop in the plan. Stored hours show 11 AM to 11 PM every day. Dinner.
  8. HOPAHOLIC Craft Beer Bar & Food Budapest: stored as a bar, 0.15 km from the restaurant. Stored hours show 4 PM to midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and to 2 AM from Thursday to Saturday. Finish here.

Getting around

How I would swipe this in NomadSwipe

I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Budapest deck, swipe right on the sights and the places to eat and drink that match my taste, and swipe left on the rest. The deck also holds hotels, clubs filed as attractions and a few places that are not in Budapest at all, so I would skip those. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster together, and let those clusters become the days. Because St. Stephen's Basilica is not a card in the Budapest deck I searched, I would add it as a custom pin. NomadSwipe is Android only for now, and iPhone is coming soon.

Questions about this guide

Can I do this Budapest itinerary in 2 days?

Yes. Days 1 and 2 are a complete 2-day plan: Castle Hill in Buda, then the Parliament and central Pest. Together they cover 16 of the 24 places and about 7.0 km by straight line between stored coordinates. Day 3 adds the Andrássy út museums and the zoo, so drop it if you only have two days.

Are St. Stephen's Basilica, the thermal baths or the Chain Bridge in this plan?

No. The Budapest place data I searched has no card for St. Stephen's Basilica, the Széchenyi or Gellért baths, the Chain Bridge, Heroes' Square, the Great Market Hall or a synagogue. The plan uses the sights the deck does hold, and you can add the rest as custom pins.

Which days of the week does this plan work?

By the opening hours stored in the app, day one works Tuesday to Sunday, day two works Tuesday to Saturday and day three works Wednesday to Sunday. The Hungarian National Gallery and the National Museum are closed Mondays, Dose Espresso is closed Sundays, and the Ferenc Hopp Museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Stored hours date from May 2026, so check each place before you go.

How far apart are the stops?

By straight line between stored coordinates, day one covers about 2.9 km in total, day two about 4.1 km and day three about 5.1 km. Day three includes one 2.4 km hop from the zoo to the evening stops. These are not walking times.

Where do the ratings and review counts come from?

They are the values stored in the NomadSwipe app's Budapest place data, read on 4 November 2026. All 311 stored cards were written on 17 May 2026, so live ratings may differ.

Is NomadSwipe available on iPhone?

Not yet. NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play, and iPhone is coming soon.

Build your own three days

I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only for now.

Findings, method and sample

Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 4 November 2026 with read-only queries. Budapest is stored as one destination row holding 311 cards, written on 17 May 2026. Those 311 cards share 304 distinct titles once case and spacing are ignored, so a few places appear as more than one card. I measured distance from a reference point I chose at Deák Ferenc tér (47.4979 N, 19.0540 E), by straight line between stored coordinates. I dropped the leading city name from the addresses in the tables.

Limits: all 311 stored rows were written on 17 May 2026, so ratings, review counts and hours may have changed since. I did not read hours or prices from the places' own sites, I did not check how visits or tickets work at any sight, and I did not copy any third-party review text.
