Porto itinerary for 3 days, planned from 24 real places
A Porto itinerary for 3 days, built from 24 places in the NomadSwipe app's Porto deck: 13 places to see and 11 places to eat and drink. Day one covers the river and two stops across the bridge in Vila Nova de Gaia, day two stays around the Praça da Liberdade, and day three heads west along the river and coast, then north to Matosinhos. Every rating and review count is shown as stored.
Before you start
- Only two days? Use day one and day two. Both are compact, and day three is the spread-out one (see the 2-day section below).
- The Porto deck is thin on landmarks. The Torre dos Clérigos, Serralves and the Bolhão Market have no card (details in the findings below), so add whichever you want as a custom pin. The plan uses the sights the deck does hold.
- Three stops have a stored rating under 4.0: Livraria Lello (3.8), the Museu Romântico (3.9) and the Porto Tram Museum (3.8). I kept them because they are real stops with a stored rating, not because they score well.
- I left out fares and ticket prices because I did not read them from an official page. Opening hours are the ones stored in the app, not from the places' own sites.
Day 1: the river, the cathedral and Vila Nova de Gaia
Day one is a river day. By straight line between stored coordinates, all eight stops sit within 1.5 km of the deck's centre point, and going stop to stop adds up to about 3.5 km. Two stops, Sandeman Porto and Cockburn's, are stored with Vila Nova de Gaia addresses on the far bank of the Douro, and the Luís I Bridge is the link between the two banks (Wikipedia describes a double-deck metal arch bridge spanning the Douro between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, with a 172 metre span that was the longest of its type when built, Wikipedia). Streets add distance, so the real walk is longer.
- Mercador Café: stored as a breakfast place on Rua das Flores, 0.4 km from the next stop. Start here. Stored hours show it open 8 AM to 6 PM and closed on Sundays.
- Palácio da Bolsa: stored as a historical landmark. Wikipedia says the Stock Exchange Palace was built in the 19th century in Neoclassical style and stands in the historical centre of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Wikipedia). Stored hours show 9 AM to 6:30 PM every day.
- Porto Cathedral: stored as a Catholic church, 0.4 km from the Palácio da Bolsa. Wikipedia calls it one of the city's oldest monuments and one of the most important local Romanesque monuments (Wikipedia).
- Bartolomeu Bistro & Wine: stored as a bistro, 0.2 km from the cathedral. A lunch stop: stored hours show lunch from 12:30 PM to 3 PM every day.
- Luís I Bridge: stored as a bridge, with no opening hours, which suits a bridge. It is 0.5 km from the bistro.
- Sandeman Porto: stored as a tourist attraction in Vila Nova de Gaia, 0.4 km from the bridge. Stored hours show 10 AM to 6 PM every day. I did not confirm what visits or tastings it offers.
- Cockburn's: stored as a winery in Vila Nova de Gaia, 0.7 km on from Sandeman. Wikipedia defines port as a Portuguese fortified wine produced in the Douro Valley (Wikipedia). Stored hours show 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM every day.
- Bota & Bira: stored as a restaurant on Rua do Comércio do Porto, back on the Porto side, 1.0 km from Cockburn's. My dinner stop. Stored hours show it open from 6 PM to 11 PM and closed on Sundays and Mondays, which is the reason this day works Tuesday to Saturday.

Day 2: Praça da Liberdade, a bookshop and two bars
Day two is the shortest. All eight stops sit within 1 km of the deck's centre point, and going stop to stop adds up to about 1.8 km by straight line, so this is a slow day built around long meals and a museum. The furthest leg, from Livraria Lello to the Soares dos Reis National Museum, is 0.6 km.
- Do Norte Café by Hungry Biker | Brunch & Breakfast: stored as a breakfast place on Rua do Almada. Start here. Stored hours show it opening at 8:15 AM on weekdays and 8 AM on weekends, and closing at 4 PM.
- Praça da Liberdade: stored as a historical landmark, 0.1 km from the cafe, with no stored hours.
- Livraria Lello: stored as a bookstore with 18,988 reviews and a rating of 3.8. After the Luís I Bridge it is the most-reviewed stop in this plan, and it is also one of the lowest rated, so decide for yourself. Stored hours show 9 AM to 7:30 PM every day.
- Soares dos Reis National Museum: stored as a museum, 0.6 km from the bookshop. Wikipedia says it is housed in the Carrancas Palace (Wikipedia). Stored hours show 10 AM to 6 PM and closed on Mondays.
- Zenith - Brunch & Cocktails Bar: stored as a breakfast place on Praça de Carlos Alberto, with 6,170 reviews. A late lunch stop. Stored hours show 8 AM to 6 PM every day.
- Rua Tapas Restaurant & Live Music Bar: stored as a restaurant, 0.1 km from Zenith. My dinner stop. Stored hours show 7 PM to midnight every day.
- Bar Aduela: stored as a bar on Rua das Oliveiras. Stored hours show 10 AM to 2 AM from Tuesday to Saturday, 5 PM to 1 AM on Sundays and 6 PM to 2 AM on Mondays.
- Bar Pherrugem: stored as a bar on the same street, 0.1 km on. The app holds no opening hours for it, so check before you go. Finish here.

Day 3: Casa da Música, the west coast and Matosinhos
Day three spreads out. Going stop to stop adds up to about 9.9 km by straight line, with the two longest legs at 2.7 km (the Porto Tram Museum to the Camélia brunch garden) and 2.4 km (Parque da Cidade to the last stop). The Mercado stop is in Matosinhos, 8.3 km from the deck's centre point. Skip the last two stops if you are short of time.
- Casa da Música: stored as an entertainment venue on Avenida da Boavista, with no stored hours. Wikipedia says it is a concert hall designed by Rem Koolhaas that opened in 2005 (Wikipedia). Start here.
- Museu Romântico: stored as a museum, 1.3 km from Casa da Música, with a rating of 3.9. Stored hours show 10 AM to 5:30 PM and closed on Mondays.
- Porto Tram Museum: stored as a museum, 0.4 km on, with a rating of 3.8. Wikipedia says it opened in 1992 in a former thermoelectric power station next to the Douro and shows the history of Porto's trams (Wikipedia). Stored hours show 10 AM to 6 PM and closed on Mondays.
- Camélia - Brunch Garden: stored as a breakfast place on Rua do Passeio Alegre, 2.7 km from the tram museum. A brunch stop. Stored hours show it open until 8 PM.

Porto itinerary for 2 days: which two to pick
For a 2-day Porto itinerary, take day one and day two. They cover the river, the cathedral, the Palácio da Bolsa, the Luís I Bridge, two stops on the Vila Nova de Gaia bank and the streets around the Praça da Liberdade, and they total about 5.3 km by straight line. Day three is the one that needs transport, so it is the one to drop. If you have the choice, a Tuesday to Saturday trip lets you use all three days.
Which days of the week this works
- Day 1: Tuesday to Saturday. Mercador Café is closed on Sundays, and Bota & Bira is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
- Day 2: Tuesday to Sunday. The Soares dos Reis National Museum is closed on Mondays. Bar Aduela opens only at 6 PM on Mondays.
- Day 3: Tuesday to Saturday. The Museu Romântico and the Porto Tram Museum are closed on Mondays, and Mercado - Food & Drinks is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
- Stored hours are a snapshot. The stored rows date from 2 October 2026, so confirm hours on the day.
Getting around
- Metro: Wikipedia describes the Porto Metro as a light rail network that runs underground in central Porto and above ground into the suburbs, with the first parts in operation since 2002 (Wikipedia). I did not confirm which line or stop serves which place, so check a transit map for day three.
- Days one and two on foot: the legs are between 0.1 and 1.0 km by straight line, so a walking day is realistic, though Porto is hilly and I have no gradient data.
- Day three with long hops: the legs from the Porto Tram Museum to Camélia (2.7 km) and from the park to Matosinhos (2.4 km) are the ones to ride.
- Fares: left out, because I did not read them from an official page.
How I would swipe this in NomadSwipe
I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Porto deck, swipe right on the sights and the places to eat and drink that match my taste, and swipe left on the rest. The deck also holds a lot of hotels, so I would skip those. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster together and let those clusters become the days. The deck I read is stored under the odd name "Hôtel", centred on Porto, and I do not know why it carries that name, so the deck you see in the app may look different. Because the Torre dos Clérigos is not a card in the deck I read, I would add it as a custom pin; custom pins are limited to 2 a month on the free plan, and Premium removes the limit. NomadSwipe is Android only for now, and iPhone is coming soon.
Questions about this guide
Are the Torre dos Clérigos, Serralves or the Bolhão Market in this plan?
No. The Porto place data I searched has no card for them. Title searches for Clérigos, Serralves, São Bento, Bolhão and Cristal returned only restaurants, cafes, apartments, hotels, a guest house and a spa, such as Buga Ramen Clérigos and Lareira - Serralves. The plan uses the sights the deck does hold, and you can add the rest as custom pins.
Which days of the week does this plan work?
By the opening hours stored in the app, all three days work Tuesday to Saturday. Day one needs a day when Mercador Café and Bota & Bira are open, which excludes Sunday and Monday. Day two works Tuesday to Sunday because the Soares dos Reis National Museum is closed on Mondays. Day three needs Tuesday to Saturday because the Museu Romântico, the Porto Tram Museum and Mercado - Food & Drinks are closed on Mondays and the restaurant is also closed on Sundays. Stored hours date from 2 October 2026, so check each place before you go.
Can I do Porto in 2 days with this plan?
Yes: use day one and day two. Both stay in the centre and along the river, with about 3.5 km and 1.8 km between stops by straight line. Day three goes west along the river and coast and north to Matosinhos, covers about 9.9 km and needs transport for the long hops, so it is the one to drop for a 2-day trip.
How far apart are the stops?
By straight line between stored coordinates, day one covers about 3.5 km in total and day two about 1.8 km. Day three covers about 9.9 km, and its two longest legs are 2.7 km and 2.4 km. These are not walking times.
Where do the ratings and review counts come from?
They are the values stored in the NomadSwipe app's Porto place data, read on 4 November 2026. All 878 stored cards were written on 2 October 2026, so live ratings may differ.
Is NomadSwipe available on iPhone?
Not yet. NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play, and iPhone is coming soon.
Build your own three days
I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only for now.
Findings, method and sample
Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 4 November 2026 with read-only queries. I first listed the app's destination rows and searched them for Porto. The only Porto-centred row is stored under the name "Hôtel" (country code PRT, type city, centre 41.14527 N, 8.61097 W) and holds 878 cards. Portugal's other rows are separate cities such as Lisbon, Braga and Aveiro, and a search of every card in a box around Porto found nothing else except one card in a row named Vila-real. The 878 cards share 859 distinct titles once case and spacing are ignored, so some places appear as more than one card. I measured distance from the row's own stored centre, by straight line between stored coordinates.
- Of the 878 cards, 728 have a stored rating. 576 of those rated cards are rated 4.0 or higher (79%), and 333 are rated 4.5 or higher. The median rated card has 136 reviews.
- All 878 cards sit within 8.6 km of the centre, and 801 sit within 5 km. Unlike some other city decks I have read, none is far away.
- I grouped the cards by their stored category into five buckets I defined myself: 288 lodging cards (33%), 319 restaurants and other places, 139 cafes, bakeries and breakfast places, 61 bars and 71 typed as sights (museum, gallery, attraction, monument, park, landmark, church, bridge, beach or winery). The Porto deck is therefore mostly food and lodging.
- Stored average ratings by bucket: lodging 4.27 across 275 rated cards, restaurants and other places 4.31 across 254, cafes and bakeries 4.31 across 99, bars 4.22 across 50 and sights 4.20 across 50.
- The most-reviewed cards are McDonald's branches, with the top one stored at 40,000 reviews, then the Luís I Bridge with 25,535 and Livraria Lello with 18,988. 17 cards have a review count that is an exact multiple of 1,000, such as 40,000 and 15,000, which looks rounded, so none of those cards is in the tables above.
- Searching card titles found no card for the Torre dos Clérigos, Serralves, São Bento station, the Bolhão Market or the Crystal Palace gardens. The matches for Clérigos, Bolhão, São Bento, Serralves and Cristal were restaurants, cafes, a ramen shop, a spa, a guest house, apartments and hotels. The Majestic Café is in the deck, stored with a 3.9 rating and 12,271 reviews, and I did not use it.
- Opening hours are stored for 530 of the 878 cards, but for only 6 of the 288 lodging cards. 2 cards have a stored rating or review count of zero.
- I chose the 24 stops by hand: places I could group by area for each day, mixing categories and fitting the stored opening hours. The 11 places to eat and drink are rated 4.3 or higher with at least 77 stored reviews. The sights are mostly well-reviewed ones, and 21 of the 24 stops are rated 4.0 or higher. The three below that are Livraria Lello (3.8), the Museu Romântico (3.9) and the Porto Tram Museum (3.8). They are not simply the 24 highest-rated cards.
- By straight line between stored coordinates, day one totals about 3.5 km and its two furthest-apart stops are 1.3 km apart. Day two totals about 1.8 km and its furthest pair is 0.9 km apart. Day three totals about 9.9 km and its furthest pair is 7.0 km apart. These are not walking times.
Limits: all 878 stored rows were written on 2 October 2026, so ratings, review counts and hours may have changed since. The Wikipedia facts are from the pages' opening summaries, read on 4 November 2026. I did not read hours or prices for any place from its own site, and I did not copy any third-party review text.
