Vienna in 2 days, planned from 16 real places
Vienna in 2 days, planned from 16 places in the NomadSwipe app's Vienna deck: four sights, two cafes, four restaurants and six bars. Day one stays inside the centre, and day two starts at Schönbrunn Palace. Every rating and review count is shown as stored.
Before you start
- The Vienna deck is thin on sights. Only four of its cards are real Vienna sights: Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofburg, the MuseumsQuartier and Belvedere Palace. The rest of each day is built from cafes, restaurants and bars, so think of this as a food, drink and palaces plan, not a full tour.
- St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Opera and the Albertina are not stops. The deck has no card for them (details in the findings below), so add whichever you want as a custom pin.
- Belvedere Palace is stored as a museum with no rating, so its row in the table shows a dash.
- Opening hours for Schönbrunn and Belvedere come from their official pages, read on 4 November 2026. Fares are left out because the Vienna transport operator's pages did not load for me.
Day 1: MuseumsQuartier to Himmelpfortgasse
Day one is the compact one. By straight line between stored coordinates, all eight stops sit within 1.2 km of Stephansplatz, and going stop to stop adds up to about 3.6 km. Streets add distance, so the real walk is longer.
- MuseumsQuartier Wien: stored as a tourist attraction in the 7th district. Wikipedia says the complex opened in 2001 on the site of the former imperial court stables and covers 114,310 square metres, with the Leopold Museum and MUMOK among its institutions (Wikipedia). Start here.
- Hǎo Noodle & Tea: stored as a restaurant on Opernring, about 0.5 km from the MuseumsQuartier. A lunch stop.
- Hofburg: stored as a historical site. Wikipedia calls it the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburgs, a winter seat of the emperors, and today the official residence and workplace of the Austrian President, and it lists the Imperial Treasury, the Albertina and the Austrian National Library's Prunksaal among its parts (Wikipedia). It is a complex of several attractions, so decide in advance which one you want.
- Jonas Reindl Coffee Roasters: stored as a cafe, about 1.1 km north of the Hofburg. A coffee stop.
- Needle Vinyl Bar: stored as a bar, 0.6 km on from the cafe.
- Loos American Bar: stored as a bar, the closest stop to Stephansplatz at 0.2 km by stored coordinates.
- Trattoria La No: stored as a restaurant. My dinner stop. Stored hours show it closed on Sundays, and it is the reason this day works Monday to Saturday.
- Bar 13 Cocktails: stored as a bar on Himmelpfortgasse, 0.2 km from the trattoria. End the evening here.

Day 2: Schönbrunn, then Wieden, Belvedere and Neubau
Day two spreads out. Schönbrunn Palace is 4.1 km by straight line from the second stop and 5.1 km from Belvedere Palace, which pushes the straight-line total to about 10.0 km. Without Schönbrunn, the other seven stops add up to about 5.8 km. Give Schönbrunn the morning, then work back toward the centre.
- Schönbrunn Palace: stored as a castle, on Schönbrunner Schloßstraße in the 13th district. Wikipedia describes a 1,441-room Baroque palace in Hietzing, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1996 as the Palace and Gardens of Schönbrunn (Wikipedia). The palace's own site listed daily opening hours of 8.30 am to 5 pm and garden hours of 6.30 am to 5.30 pm, and a Palace Ticket at 42 euros for adults and 30 euros for children from age 6, with State Apartments at 30 euros for adults (schoenbrunn.at, read 4 November 2026). Hours and prices change with the season, so check before you buy.
- blueorange - coffee & bagel: stored as a cafe on Margaretenstraße, 4.1 km from the palace. The deck holds two cafes with this name, and this is the one in the 4th district.
- Cucina Sebastiano: stored as a restaurant, 0.5 km from the cafe. A lunch stop: stored hours show lunch from 11 AM to 2 PM on weekdays only.
- Belvedere Palace: stored as a museum with no rating. Wikipedia says Prince Eugene of Savoy had it built as a summer residence, with the Upper Belvedere completed in 1723, and that it holds Klimt's The Kiss (Wikipedia). Belvedere's own homepage showed the Upper Belvedere open 9 am to 6 pm on the day I read it (belvedere.at). It is 1.0 km from the restaurant.
- Senhor Vinho: stored as a Portuguese restaurant in the 5th district, 2.1 km from Belvedere. It is a dinner stop: stored hours show it opening at 6 PM and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
- Barfly's: stored as a bar, 1.1 km from the restaurant.
- bestens. Cocktailbar: stored as a bar in the 7th district. Closed Mondays by stored hours.
- Moby Dick - Cocktailbar & Eatery: stored as a bar, 0.2 km from the previous stop. Closed Sundays and Mondays by stored hours. Finish here.

Which days of the week this works
- Day 1: every stop is open on Mondays to Saturdays by the stored hours. Trattoria La No is closed on Sundays.
- Day 2: Tuesday to Friday. Senhor Vinho and Moby Dick are closed Sundays and Mondays, bestens is closed Mondays, Cucina Sebastiano is closed Sundays, and on Saturdays it opens only from 5 PM, so there is no lunch.
- Stored hours are a snapshot. The stored rows date from 9 May 2026. As a check, the app lists Schönbrunn Palace as open until 5:30 PM, while the palace's own page said 5 pm when I read it, so confirm hours on the day.
Getting around
- Metro: Wikipedia lists five Vienna U-Bahn lines, U1, U2, U3, U4 and U6, with the network officially opened in 1978 (Wikipedia). I did not confirm which line serves which stop, so check a transit map for Schönbrunn.
- Day one on foot: the Innere Stadt is the old town inside the Ringstrasse, covering 2.88 square kilometres by Wikipedia's figure (Wikipedia), so a walking day is realistic.
- Day two with one long hop: the first leg, from Schönbrunn to the cafe, is 4.1 km by straight line and is the one to ride. The other legs are between 0.2 and 2.1 km.
- Fares: left out. The operator page I tried showed a browser check instead of prices, so check current fares with the operator.
How I would swipe this in NomadSwipe
I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Vienna deck, swipe right on the sights and the places to eat and drink that match my taste, and swipe left on the rest. The deck also holds hotels and a few places that are not in Vienna at all, so I would skip those. Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster together, and let those clusters become the two days. Because St. Stephen's Cathedral is not a card in the Vienna deck I searched, I would add it as a custom pin. NomadSwipe is Android only for now, and iPhone is coming soon.
Questions about this guide
Are St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Opera or the Albertina in this plan?
No. The Vienna place data I searched has no card for them. Searches for Stephansdom, Albertina, Karlskirche, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Riesenrad and the Parliament found nothing, and the only matches for Stephansplatz, Oper and Rathaus were hotels and a cafe. The plan uses the four sights the deck does hold, and you can add the rest as custom pins.
Which days of the week does this plan work?
By the opening hours stored in the app, day one works Monday to Saturday and day two works Tuesday to Friday, because Senhor Vinho, Moby Dick and bestens are closed on Mondays (the first two also on Sundays), and Cucina Sebastiano is closed on Sundays and has no lunch on Saturdays. Stored hours date from 9 May 2026, so check each place before you go.
How far apart are the stops?
By straight line between stored coordinates, day one covers about 3.6 km in total. Day two covers about 10.0 km because Schönbrunn Palace is 4.1 km from the next stop; without Schönbrunn the day is about 5.8 km. These are not walking times.
Where do the ratings and review counts come from?
They are the values stored in the NomadSwipe app's Vienna place data, read on 4 November 2026. All 500 stored rows were written on 9 May 2026, so live ratings may differ.
Is NomadSwipe available on iPhone?
Not yet. NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play, and iPhone is coming soon.
Build your own two days
I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only for now.
Findings, method and sample
Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 4 November 2026 with read-only queries. Vienna is stored as two destination rows, both named Vienna, holding 500 and 26 cards. I used the larger one. Its 500 cards share 454 distinct titles once case and spacing are ignored, so some places appear as more than one card. I measured distance from a reference point I chose at Stephansplatz (48.20849 N, 16.37208 E), by straight line between stored coordinates.
- Of the 500 cards, 337 have a stored rating. 258 of those rated cards are rated 4.0 or higher (77%), and 103 are rated 4.5 or higher. The median rated card has 319 reviews.
- 438 of the 500 cards sit within 10 km of the reference point, 52 sit between 10 and 100 km away, and 10 sit more than 1,000 km away. Those far cards include three US botanical gardens, two US zoos and a cafe in Philadelphia. A city name alone can pull in places from elsewhere, so check the address before you swipe right.
- Within 10 km, the 438 cards are 242 restaurants, 119 hotels, 38 bars, 16 cafes, 16 typed as sights (tourist attraction, historical site, castle, museum or garden) and 7 of other types. Only 5 of the 16 sight cards have a rating, and several of them are karaoke bars or tourist information offices, not sights.
- Stored average ratings within 10 km differ by type: restaurants 4.09 across 147 rated cards, hotels 4.30 across 110, cafes 4.39 across 10 and bars 4.54 across 21. The cafe and bar averages rest on small samples.
- The two most-reviewed cards within 10 km are Schönbrunn Palace with 44,569 reviews and the Hofburg with 12,988. The next four are hotels.
- Searching card titles found no card for Stephansdom, the Albertina, Karlskirche, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Riesenrad, the Parliament or the Spanish Riding School. The only matches for Stephansplatz, Oper, Rathaus and Prater were hotels, a cafe and a bar. Naschmarkt matched two restaurants and a cafe, not the market. Wikipedia names Stephansdom, the Albertina, the Opera, the Parliament, the Rathaus and the Hofburg as landmarks of the Innere Stadt, so the deck's sight coverage is thin for a city this size.
- Opening hours are stored for 249 of the 438 cards within 10 km. In 258 of the 500 stored addresses, special characters appear as HTML codes such as
öfor ö, and I decoded them in the tables above. - I chose the 16 stops by hand: the four sights the deck holds, plus restaurants, cafes and bars within 3 km of the reference point that are rated 4.0 or higher with at least 20 stored reviews, chosen to mix categories, keep each day in one area and fit the stored opening hours. They are not simply the 16 highest-rated cards. Belvedere Palace is the one stop with no stored rating.
- By straight line between stored coordinates, day one totals about 3.6 km and its two furthest-apart stops are 1.4 km apart. Day two totals about 10.0 km, or about 5.8 km without Schönbrunn Palace, which is 5.1 km from Belvedere Palace. These are not walking times.
Limits: all 500 stored rows were written on 9 May 2026, so ratings, review counts and hours may have changed since. I did not read hours or prices for the restaurants, cafes and bars from their own sites, and I did not copy any third-party review text. Fares and Belvedere ticket prices are left out because those pages did not load for me.
