Bruges in 2 days: 16 stops that fit the stored opening hours
A 2-day Bruges itinerary built from the 464 places in the NomadSwipe app's Bruges deck. Every stop is within 1.1 km of the Markt, every suggested start time falls inside the stored opening hours, and the page tells you which days of the week the plan works.
The plan at a glance
- Day 1, Markt and the east: the Belfry, the Provincial Palace, the Torture Museum, lunch on Vlamingstraat, then the Adornes Domain and the Kantcentrum, dinner at De Pepermolen and a drink at Le Trappiste.
- Day 2, Dijver and the south: the Groeninge Museum, Musea Sculpta, lunch at De Gastro, tea at Carpe Diem, Minnewater Park, dinner at ONE Restaurant and a rooftop drink.
- Days of the week: day one works Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Day two works Thursday to Sunday. Four back-to-back pairings fit both (see the weekday table).
- Distance: each day adds up to about 2.4 km by straight line between stored coordinates, so both days are on foot. These are not walking times.
A small core, and why that shapes the plan
The Bruges deck is concentrated around one square. Using a reference point I set at the Markt, 148 of the 174 cards within 3 km sit within 1 km of it. Wikipedia describes the Markt as the central square of Bruges, covering about 1 hectare, with the 13th-century Belfry on its south side (Wikipedia), and describes the historic city centre as an oval of about 430 hectares and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Wikipedia). With that little ground to cover, the problem is not distance. It is opening days, which is why most of this page is about them.
- Prices are left out. I did not source ticket prices from official pages this run, so check each place's own website the day you go.
- The big landmarks are not cards. I searched the deck for a church, basilica, begijnhof, cathedral, windmill, canal and boat tour, and for the Burg and Rozenhoedkaai in addresses. None of those returned a landmark card (details in the findings). The only landmark-style card on the Markt is the historic-centre card, which I use to start day one.
- Add your own pins. Anything you want that the deck lacks, such as a canal boat or a church, is yours to add on the map yourself.
Which days of the week work
I parsed the stored weekly hours of all 16 stops with a script, set a suggested start time for each timed stop, and tested every weekday. A stop fails a day if its stored hours are closed or do not cover the start time.
| Weekday | Day 1 works? | Day 2 works? |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Yes | No: Groeninge Museum, Carpe Diem and ONE Restaurant are stored as closed |
| Tuesday | No: Provincial Palace is closed | No: five stops are closed (Musea Sculpta, De Gastro, Carpe Diem, ONE Restaurant, ODA Rooftop Bar) |
| Wednesday | No: De Pepermolen is closed | Only ODA Rooftop Bar is closed, so swap the last drink |
| Thursday | Yes | Yes |
| Friday | No: Adornes Domain is closed | Yes |
| Saturday | Yes | Yes |
| Sunday | No: Adornes Domain, Kantcentrum and Le Trappiste are closed | Yes |
Four consecutive-day pairings fit both days: day one on Thursday and day two on Friday, day two on Friday and day one on Saturday, day one on Saturday and day two on Sunday, or day two on Sunday and day one on Monday. Hours also change on public holidays, so confirm before you go.
Day 1: Markt, the Belfry and the east side
Day one stays near the square. By straight line between stored coordinates, the nine stops are within 0.9 km of each other, the farthest from the Markt reference point is 0.76 km away, and going stop to stop adds up to about 2.4 km. The longest single leg, about 0.7 km, is from lunch to the Adornes Domain. Times below are my suggested start times.
- 9:00, Historic centre of Brugge (Bruges): stored as a historic site, with 18,121 stored reviews and a 4.8 rating, the most-reviewed card in this plan. Its stored address reads "Grote Markt, 2000 Anvers", which is an Antwerp postcode, but its stored coordinates are on the Markt, 0.06 km from my reference point. I treat the address as a data quirk. It has no stored hours. Start here, on the square.
- 9:15, Belfry of Bruges: stored as a historic site, open daily 9 AM to 8 PM as stored. Wikipedia says the belfry was added to the Markt around 1240, stands 83 metres tall, leans 87 centimetres to the east, and has a staircase of 366 steps that the public can climb for an entry fee (Wikipedia). Going early is my choice, not a sourced queue time.
- 10:30, Provincial Palace: stored as a historic site at Markt 3, 0.09 km from the Belfry by stored coordinates. Stored as closed on Tuesdays and open 10:30 AM to 6 PM on the other days.
- 11:00, Torture Museum Oude Steen Brugge: stored as a museum, on Wollestraat, 4.3 from 1,545 reviews. Open daily 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM as stored.
- 12:30, Vlaminck '14: stored as a restaurant, at Vlamingstraat 14, 4.5 from 660 reviews, open daily from noon to 10 PM as stored. A swap if you want a different lunch: Ter Halle Grill Restaurant on the Eiermarkt, 4.7 from 317 reviews, closed Sunday and open only from 6 PM on Monday.
- 14:00, Adornes Domain: stored as a museum, 4.4 from 595 reviews, open Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, closed Friday and Sunday as stored. It is the plan's furthest stop to the east.
- 15:30, Kantcentrum vzw: stored as a museum, at Balstraat 16, 0.08 km from the Adornes Domain by stored coordinates. Closed Sunday, open 9:30 AM to 5 PM the other days as stored, so keep the 15:30 start.
- 18:00, De Pepermolen: stored as a restaurant, 4.6 from 645 reviews, open evenings from 6 PM to 9:15 PM and closed Wednesday as stored. About 0.4 km from the Kantcentrum.
- 20:00, Le Trappiste: stored as a bar, 4.7 from 1,516 reviews, the highest-rated bar card in the deck with at least 1,000 stored reviews. Open Monday to Thursday 6 PM to midnight and Friday and Saturday 5 PM to 1 AM, closed Sunday as stored.
| Time | Place | Category as stored | Rating | Reviews | Address as stored | Stored hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9:00 | Historic centre of Brugge (Bruges) | Historical site | 4.8 | 18,121 | Grote Markt, 2000 Anvers | None stored |
| 9:15 | Belfry of Bruges | Historical site | 4.4 | 8,046 | Markt 7, 8000 Bruges | Daily 9 AM-8 PM |
| 10:30 | Provincial Palace | Historical site | 4.3 | 80 | Markt 3, 8000 Bruges | 10:30 AM-6 PM; closed Tue |
| 11:00 | Torture Museum Oude Steen Brugge | Museum | 4.3 | 1,545 | Wollestraat 29, 8000 Bruges | Daily 10:30 AM-6:30 PM |
| 12:30 | Vlaminck '14 | Restaurant | 4.5 | 660 | Vlamingstraat 14, 8000 Bruges | Daily noon-10 PM |
| 14:00 | Adornes Domain | Museum | 4.4 | 595 | 8000 Bruges | Mon-Thu and Sat 10 AM-5 PM; closed Fri and Sun |
| 15:30 | Kantcentrum vzw | Museum | 4.1 | 189 | Balstraat 16, 8000 Bruges | Mon-Sat 9:30 AM-5 PM; closed Sun |
| 18:00 | De Pepermolen | Restaurant | 4.6 | 645 | 8000 Bruges | 6-9:15 PM (Sun also noon-3:30 PM); closed Wed |
| 20:00 | Le Trappiste | Bar | 4.7 | 1,516 | 8000 Bruges | Mon-Thu 6 PM-midnight, Fri-Sat 5 PM-1 AM; closed Sun |
Day 2: Dijver, Minnewater and the south
Day two moves south from the square. The seven stops are within 0.9 km of each other, the farthest from the Markt reference point is 1.09 km, and going stop to stop adds up to about 2.4 km. The legs run from 0.12 km (Minnewater Park to ONE Restaurant) to 0.67 km (dinner to the rooftop bar). Times are again my suggested start times.
- 10:00, Groeninge Museum: stored as a museum, at Dijver 12, 4.3 from 1,744 reviews, open 10 AM to 6 PM and closed Monday as stored. Wikipedia says it holds Flemish and Belgian painting across six centuries, from Jan van Eyck to Marcel Broodthaers, including van Eyck's Madonna with Canon van der Paele of 1436 (Wikipedia).
- 11:30, Musea Sculpta: stored as a museum, at Mariastraat 10, 4.8 from 158 reviews, 0.27 km from the Groeninge Museum by stored coordinates. Closed Tuesday as stored. I read no page describing it this run, so I only repeat the stored values.
- 12:30, De Gastro: stored as a restaurant, at Braambergstraat 6, 4.6 from 2,811 reviews. Lunch hours are noon to 3 PM and it is closed Tuesday as stored.
- 15:00, Carpe Diem Bakery & Tea-room: stored as a bakery, at Wijngaardstraat 8, 4.3 from 861 reviews. Open 7 AM to 6 PM, closed Monday and Tuesday as stored. An afternoon break, 0.6 km from lunch.
- 16:00, Minnewater Park: stored as a park, at Minnewater 1, 0.31 km from the tea room. It has a 4.4 rating from only 11 reviews, so treat that number lightly. It has no stored hours.
- 18:00, ONE Restaurant: stored as a restaurant, 4.7 from 1,196 reviews, 0.12 km from the park. Dinner is 6 PM to 9 PM, and it is closed Monday and Tuesday as stored.
- 20:00, ODA Rooftop Bar: stored as a bar, at Steenstraat 96, 4.8 from 301 reviews, the highest-rated bar card in the Bruges deck with at least 300 stored reviews. Open noon to midnight, closed Tuesday and Wednesday as stored. It is the one place on this list that is a longer hop, 0.67 km back toward the centre.
| Time | Place | Category as stored | Rating | Reviews | Address as stored | Stored hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10:00 | Groeninge Museum | Museum | 4.3 | 1,744 | Dijver 12, 8000 Bruges | Tue-Sun 10 AM-6 PM; closed Mon |
| 11:30 | Musea Sculpta | Museum | 4.8 | 158 | Mariastraat 10, 8000 Bruges | 10:30 AM-6 PM; closed Tue |
| 12:30 | De Gastro | Restaurant | 4.6 | 2,811 | Braambergstraat 6, 8000 Bruges | Noon-3 PM and 6-10 PM; closed Tue |
| 15:00 | Carpe Diem Bakery & Tea-room | Bakery | 4.3 | 861 | Wijngaardstraat 8, 8000 Bruges | Wed-Sun 7 AM-6 PM; closed Mon-Tue |
| 16:00 | Minnewater Park | Park | 4.4 | 11 | Minnewater 1, 8000 Bruges | None stored |
| 18:00 | ONE Restaurant | Restaurant | 4.7 | 1,196 | 8000 Bruges | Wed-Sun noon-2 PM and 6-9 PM; closed Mon-Tue |
| 20:00 | ODA Rooftop Bar | Bar | 4.8 | 301 | Steenstraat 96, 8000 Bruges | Noon-midnight; closed Tue and Wed |
What I left out, and why
- Four tourist museums below 4.0. Choco-Story (3.6, 3,945 reviews), the Frietmuseum (3.3, 1,343), XPO Salvador Dalí (3.6, 674) and the Diamond Museum (3.4, 402) are all stored within 0.8 km of the Markt. Of the 10 museum cards within 3.5 km, these are the four under 4.0. If one is why you came, swap it in for the Kantcentrum or Musea Sculpta.
- Brugse Vrije. It is stored as a museum with a 4.2 rating from 281 reviews, but its stored hours show it open on Saturday and Sunday only. That looks wrong for a museum next to the Markt, so I left it out rather than build a day around it.
- The Gunpowder Tower and Boudewijn Seapark. The tower (3.7 from 98 reviews, 1.19 km from the reference) and the Seapark (3.1 from 439 reviews, 2.97 km) are two more cards under 4.0 that I looked at and left out.
- Hotels and rentals. 115 of the 464 cards are hotels or vacation rentals, so I skipped them for a day plan.
Getting around between the stops
- On foot both days. The farthest pair of stops on either day is under 0.9 km apart by straight line, which is why I did not add transport. Streets and canals make the real walk longer than the straight line.
- The one longer hop: day two ends with the 0.67 km leg from dinner back toward the Markt, and day one has the 0.7 km leg east to the Adornes Domain.
- Transport and fares: I left them out because I did not read an official page for them this run.
- In the app: each card shows its distance, and the list sorts by rating, distance or A to Z.
How I would swipe the Bruges deck
I built NomadSwipe, so this is the method I would use, not a trip I already took. I would open the Bruges deck, swipe right on the museums and the places to eat that match my taste, and swipe left on the rest. The deck also holds hotels, rentals and spas, so I would skip those when planning a day, and I would check the address on any card that looks out of place (see the findings). Then I would open the map to see which saved places cluster, and let those clusters become the two days. The closed-day pattern above is the part to check last, because a good cluster can still land on the wrong weekday. NomadSwipe is Android only.
Questions about this Bruges plan
Can I follow this Bruges plan if I arrive on a Tuesday?
Do day one and skip one stop. By the stored hours, the Provincial Palace is the only day-one stop closed on Tuesday. Day two is the weak one on a Tuesday: Musea Sculpta, De Gastro, Carpe Diem, ONE Restaurant and ODA Rooftop Bar are all stored as closed. The stored hours are from 9 May 2026, so confirm them before you go.
Which stops are still open on a Sunday?
All of day two works on a Sunday as stored. Day one loses three stops on a Sunday: Adornes Domain, the Kantcentrum and Le Trappiste are stored as closed. The Belfry, the Torture Museum and Vlaminck '14 are stored as open every day.
Why are Choco-Story and the Frietmuseum not in the plan?
They are well-known museum cards but their stored ratings are below the 4.0 line I used: Choco-Story is 3.6 from 3,945 reviews and the Frietmuseum is 3.3 from 1,343. The XPO Salvador Dalí card is 3.6 and the Diamond Museum card is 3.4. If a museum on that list is the reason you came, add it as a swap.
How were the 16 stops chosen?
I picked cards within 1.1 km of a reference point at the Markt with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher and at least 30 stored reviews, then checked every suggested start time against the stored opening hours. Minnewater Park is the exception, with 11 reviews, and the historic-centre card has no stored hours.
Which platforms is NomadSwipe on?
NomadSwipe is Android only today, on Google Play.
Build your own two days
I built NomadSwipe to turn a city into a mapped shortlist: swipe real places, save the ones you like, and see them on one map. It is Android only.
Findings, method and sample
Sample and method. I read the NomadSwipe app's place data on 4 November 2026 with read-only queries. Bruges is stored as two destination rows: Brugge with 464 cards and Bruges with none. I used Brugge. Its 464 cards share 462 distinct titles (case-insensitive). I measured distance in a straight line from a reference point that I set at the Markt (51.2093 N, 3.2247 E), using each card's stored coordinates. All 464 rows were last updated on 9 May 2026.
- Of the 464 cards, 350 have a stored rating, and 259 of those rated cards are rated 4.0 or higher (74%). 113 are rated 4.5 or higher. The median stored rating is 4.3.
- I grouped the cards by stored category into buckets I defined myself: 224 restaurants and food places, 115 hotels and rentals, 29 bars and breweries, 16 cafes and bakeries, 56 sights (museums, attractions, galleries, historic sites, parks, a zoo and similar), and 24 others such as sports, spas and theatres. The bucket totals sum to 464. Only 56 cards are sights, and 19 of those sit within 1 km of the reference point.
- 174 of the 464 cards sit within 3 km of the reference point, and 148 of those are within 1 km. 282 cards (61%) sit more than 5 km away, 62 more than 50 km away, and 51 more than 1,000 km away. The eight most-reviewed of the 51 are in the United States and Mexico, for example a Las Vegas Strip card and a resort in Quintana Roo. Check a card's address before you save it.
- 291 of the 464 cards have stored weekly hours. Of those, 84 show Monday as closed (29%), 76 show Tuesday as closed (26%), 61 show Wednesday as closed (21%) and 49 show Sunday as closed (17%). Tuesday is almost as closed as Monday.
- All 17 museum cards have stored hours, and 9 of them show Monday as closed. Of the 187 restaurant cards with stored hours, 49 are closed Monday, 48 Tuesday, 47 Wednesday and 24 Sunday.
- Landmark search: card titles and addresses were searched for church, kerk, basilica, begijn, beguinage, cathedral, burg, windmill, molen, canal, boat, lake of love, hospital, halve maan, grote markt, jan van eyck, rozenhoedkaai and simon stevin. No church, basilica, begijnhof, cathedral, windmill, canal or boat card came back. The matches were restaurants and bars whose names or addresses contain one of the terms (for example De Pepermolen and Bistro Zevenkerken), a gallery in Damme, and the historic-centre card.
- The historic-centre card is the most-reviewed card within 5 km of the reference point, at 18,121 stored reviews and 4.8. Its stored address has an Antwerp postcode while its coordinates sit on the Markt.
- Four cards have stored addresses on the Eiermarkt (Aux Merveilleux de Fred, Ter Halle Grill Restaurant, Seafoodbar Belge and a waffle and ice cream shop), all within 0.13 km of the reference point.
- I chose the 16 stops by hand: cards within 1.1 km of the reference point with a stored rating of 4.0 or higher and at least 30 stored reviews, chosen to mix categories, keep each day in one area and fit the stored opening days. The exceptions are Minnewater Park (11 reviews) and the historic-centre card (no stored hours). They are three historic sites, five museums, one park, four restaurants, one bakery and two bars. They are not simply the 16 highest-rated cards.
- Using straight-line distance between stored coordinates, day one totals about 2.4 km (longest leg 0.70 km) and day two about 2.4 km (longest leg 0.67 km). These are not walking times.
Limits: the ratings, review counts and hours are stored values from 9 May 2026 that may have changed since, and the stored hours for the Brugse Vrije look wrong. The suggested start times are mine and are checked only against stored hours. I left out ticket prices, transport fares and walking times, and I did not copy any third-party review text.
